Södermalm District Administration is now looking for a Social Worker (Socialsekreterare) for the role of a flexible resource ("löpare") within the Adult Area, Economic Assistance. The area consists of the units Economic Assistance, Harmful Use and Addiction, Social Psychiatry, and Disability, and is part of the Social Department.

The Economic Assistance unit is now seeking a Social Worker with a targeted assignment to strengthen the Investigation Group and the Reception Unit, a so-called flexible resource. This means you will have the opportunity for varied assignments across the entire unit, short-term and long-term contacts, and interaction with all target groups. The duration of the assignment may vary depending on the greatest need within the groups, influenced by temporary absences or high workload. There are already three similar functions on the area that target other operational areas.

You will have the opportunity to be part of an exciting change journey within our administration, where, with the new Social Services Act, we work to create a more accessible, secure, and close social services for citizens.

As a new employee, you will receive an individual introduction program led by the unit coordinator together with the team leader and a mentor in the group to give you the best possible start in the role. In Economic Assistance, we work to support individuals toward self-sufficiency and create long-term solutions.

Workplace Description

The Economic Assistance unit is divided into two parts: The Investigation Group, organized under the Adult Area, and the Reception Unit, organized within the Pilot Area First Line. The Social Worker position will belong to the Investigation Group but will support both groups. In total, approximately 37 people work with Economic Assistance.

The Reception Unit is the first instance for citizens applying for economic assistance. Within the Reception Unit, there is also a Housing Team, which focuses specifically on preventing evictions, supporting housing coordination, and offering housing coaching.

The Investigation Group is responsible for planning towards self-sufficiency and assessments of economic assistance when cases require more extensive follow-up and long-term support.

Each group is led by a Unit Manager and Team Leader who are responsible for the work environment, staff, and the distribution of daily work.

The Department is responsible for social services, care for people with disabilities, and preventive measures. The workplace is located in modern premises in Hammarby Sjöstad.

Södermalm District Administration has winter and summer working hours and a flexible time agreement. Since 2024, the wellness allowance is 3,000 SEK per year. Continuous supervision is included in the work.

Your Role

As a flexible Social Worker, the tasks may vary depending on which group you are assigned to.

In the Reception Unit:

• You receive and provide clear information to citizens applying for economic assistance.
• You investigate the right to assistance, assess needs, and make decisions according to current legislation.
• Cases are handled promptly with a focus on quality and legal security.
• You collaborate both internally within the unit and administration, as well as externally with relevant actors.
• The work is based on the dual mandate of social services: to support the individual towards self-sufficiency while simultaneously assessing the right to assistance.

Your Competence and Experience

• Degree in Social Work (Social Worker degree).
• Experience in public authority work, focusing on economic assistance (minimum 2 years).
• Confidence in documenting and handling cases correctly and according to regulations.
• Good communication and collaboration skills, both internally and externally.
• Basic knowledge of Motivational Interviewing (MI).
• Meritorious: Experience within addiction and mental health issues.
