Do you want to be part of the team working for a stronger defense of Sweden? The Swedish Armed Forces are in an expansion phase and we are now looking for you, a licensed specialist physician, to join the Centre for Defence Medicine (FömedC).
About the unit
The Swedish Armed Forces School of Defence Medicine (FSS) is a joint resource that conducts training, exercises, and drills within the field of defence medicine. FSS consists of three departments: the Education Department, the Exercise Department, and the Simulation and Methods Department. The position is located within the Simulation and Methods Department, which conducts exercises, education, and development of defence medical simulation and pedagogical methods with the aim of training qualified medical units within military formations.
Main responsibilities
As an education physician, your main tasks involve implementing, developing, and following up on advanced medical simulation. The most advanced medical simulation is conducted through Live Tissue Training (LTT), which is used in accordance with the 3R principles, the Animal Welfare Act, and internal Swedish Armed Forces regulations. The development work aims to improve our pedagogical methods according to the 3R principles, which stand for Replace, Reduce, and Refine.
Examples of tasks include developing, planning, implementing, and evaluating training and exercises as the medically responsible physician or instructor, primarily within the framework of LTT and other medical simulation. You will also act as an instructor in medical services within the framework of training or exercises conducted by FSS, such as in combat surgery or advanced medical resuscitation. Since we conduct exercises at other units' medical facilities, the role involves regular business travel outside the workplace. The Swedish Armed Forces are growing, and the responsibilities may develop further.
Qualifications
- Licensed specialist physician, preferably in surgery or anesthesiology
- At least three years of experience in your specialty
- Valid driver's license (Category B)
- Good ability to express yourself in speech and writing in English
Merits
- Experience conducting training within defence medicine
- Experience working with advanced medical simulation such as LTT
- Previous military overseas service
- Experience working within defence medicine in the Swedish Armed Forces
- Experience in developing and leading education
Personal qualities
You thrive in developing operations, training others, and sharing your experiences. You possess a foundational pedagogical ability and wish to develop further in this area. To succeed in the role, you should be service-oriented, proactive, and able to tackle new tasks with ease. You work in a structured and efficient manner with a solution-focused approach. With your personality, you contribute to stability and security within the group. We strive for a positive work climate where we work together, support, and stand by each other. Therefore, we are looking for someone who takes responsibility for themselves and their colleagues. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.
For the agency's mission to be successful, it is assumed that all employees act according to the established values.
