Medical Clinic in Skövde
We receive patients for investigation and treatment within the broad specialist field of internal medicine, with a focus on endocrinology/diabetology and coagulation disorders. Skövde Diagnostic Centre is part of the activity for investigating patients with unknown primary tumors or diagnostics according to the standardized care pathway "Serious unspecified symptoms that may indicate cancer." We have regular dialogue with the rheumatologist located in the same premises, and there is good cooperation with all subspecialties.
The clinic is a training unit. In addition, ST-doctors (specialist trainees) from various internal medicine subspecialties do their rotations with us.
New and follow-up visits, consultations, sample collections, and examinations alternate throughout the working day. The clinic's remit includes certain treatments.
Collaboration with inpatient care is well-functioning, which opens up the possibility of working "flexible weeks" on the acute care ward or taking home or backup on-call duties. However, this is neither a merit nor a requirement for applying for the position.
We work in a multidisciplinary team consisting of 4 specialist doctors, 1 ST-doctor in endocrinology, 15 specialist nurses, 2 assistant nurses, and 5 secretaries.
The diabetes service is provided in both outpatient and inpatient care. At our clinic, we follow over 2,000 patients with type 1 diabetes and complicated type 2 diabetes, of whom a quarter are on pump therapy. Nearly 90% of the patients are monitored with CGM, and approx. 30% have ongoing pump treatment. The diabetes team collaborates establishedly with acute care, primary care, and the municipality.
Endocrinology services are primarily outpatient-based with currently approx. 1,400 patients. All existing endocrine investigations are performed at a nurse-based unit; we also provide treatment for patients with gender dysphoria. At the thyroid clinic, patients with hyperthyroidism are examined and treated. We follow patients with severe osteoporosis or bone fragility due to endocrine or congenital disease; assessment of DXA measurements in these cases is included in the activity.
The Diagnostic Centre investigates approx. 140–180 patients per year. There are good conditions for collaboration with various subspecialties at the hospital and with regional authorities in Gothenburg.
The majority of the 1,000 patients at the AK clinic are followed via a nurse-based unit. Investigation and follow-up cases are handled primarily by AT/BT or ST-doctors with the support of an experienced supervisor.
The work climate is good, and the cooperation between staff categories is respectful and well-functioning. At internal collaboration meetings, you are given active opportunities to influence the development of the activity.
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for you with specialist competence in internal medicine and/or endocrinology/diabetology, or as a general practitioner with experience or interest. You are a curious, responsible, and solution-oriented person who thrives with both patient work, diagnostic tasks, and development issues. You are accustomed to collaborating and teaching and enjoy working in teams.
Do you want to work in a pleasant work environment that offers varied tasks within a clinic activity? Then you are the right person for us, and we warmly welcome your application!
