We are now looking for an experienced Test Engineer in software, electronics, and hardware for an assignment at Volvo Cars. This role is perfect for you if you thrive close to the technology, enjoy practical verification and validation, and want to work on functions related to the vehicle's electronics and software.
In this assignment, you will become part of the team working on Alarm & Tailgate, where you will be responsible for planning, executing, and following up on tests of tailgate functions. You will work with both manual and automated testing, troubleshooting, log analysis, and reporting in a technically advanced automotive environment.
About the roleAs a Test Engineer, you will participate in the entire testing process – from planning and test case creation to execution, analysis, and bug reporting. You will collaborate closely with requirement owners, function owners, system owners, and suppliers to ensure that testing activities maintain high quality and that results are clearly documented.
You will, among other things, work with verification in rigs, boxcars, HIL environments, and vehicles, as well as contribute to the development of test methods and test cases in relevant tools.
Examples of tasksPlan, coordinate, and execute testing activities
Develop test cases and test scripts for both manual and automated testing
Perform component, domain, and complete verification in rigs, boxcars, HIL, and vehicles
Work with test methods and test case development in tools such as Carweaver and vTestStudio
Troubleshoot, analyze logs, and perform measurements on components, actuators, and signals
Create bug reports and participate in analysis and problem-solving together with system and function owners
Review and communicate test results and reports from suppliers
Ensure that administrative documentation is correct and up to date
Experience in testing and verification within software, electronics, and/or hardware
Experience in test case design, test planning, and test execution
Experience in troubleshooting, log analysis, and technical problem-solving
Experience in automating test scripts
Good understanding of testing in complex technical systems
Ability to work structured with documentation, bug reporting, and follow-up
Good communication skills and experience collaborating with both internal teams and external suppliers
The automotive industry
HIL, rig testing, boxcar, or testing in vehicles
Carweaver and/or vTestStudio
Testing of embedded systems
Electronics, signal measurement, and component-level troubleshooting
Test automation in automotive-related environments
You are a technically curious and meticulous person who likes to understand how things work on a deep level.
