The research position is located within the Data Science and AI division, with the University of Gothenburg as the employer.

Project Information:

We are looking for a researcher for the ERC project NextReason, focusing on areas such as AI and reasoning, theorem proving, autoformalization, and conjecture generation. The position will focus on the development of neuro-symbolic methods that integrate learning, reasoning, conjectures, and theory exploration.

Responsibilities

The position is a full-time employment for 360 days at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering.

The successful candidate will conduct independent and collaborative research within the NextReason project in the chosen area. Responsibilities include the development of new AI/ATP/ITP/formalization methods, publishing results at appropriate conferences and in journals, contributing to software and datasets, and supervising students.

Qualifications

To be eligible for employment as a researcher, the applicant must have a PhD in a relevant field as specified in the job advertisement, such as computer science or mathematics, or a foreign degree assessed as equivalent to a PhD.

In the assessment of applicants, particular emphasis will be placed on research ability within the relevant research area.

The applicant should be able to work both independently and in teams. The ability to collaborate and take initiative are important qualities, along with attention to detail and an interest in research.

While both Swedish and English are used in undergraduate education, English is the working language for research at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering. Therefore, fluent English, both oral and written, is mandatory for all candidates.

Employment type: Fixed-term employment, 360 days

Scope: 100% of full-time

Location: Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Data Science and AI division

Start date: As soon as possible after agreement, but no earlier than August 17
