There is now an opportunity to apply for an exciting role as a Sustainability Strategist with responsibility for EU cooperation, citizen engagement, and democratic issues in Kristianstad Municipality!

You will become part of our knowledgeable sustainability unit with driven employees within the sustainability field. The unit's mission is to lead, support, and enable the transition to a sustainable Kristianstad, where you will become a key figure in the strategic development work together with your colleagues. The Sustainability Unit is part of the Social Development Department at the Municipal Executive Office in Kristianstad Municipality.

Your role with us

In your role, you drive long-term and proactive work where international cooperation, external funding, and democratic issues contribute to the municipality's development and strengthen residents' participation. You represent the municipality in international contexts and are the contact person towards twin towns and other partners.

You are responsible for strengthening Kristianstad's position in Europe through environmental scanning as well as coordination and analysis of EU-related questions, processes, and decisions relevant to the municipality. The assignment also includes coordinating and further developing the work with project development and external funding, as well as supporting departments in applications to national and international calls.

Furthermore, you have a municipality-wide responsibility to develop strategic work on democracy, participation, voter turnout, and citizen engagement, for example by developing forms for children's and young people's influence and through collaboration with the voluntary sector. You will alternate between working at a strategic level and with operational tasks.

You contribute to strengthening the connection and goal synergies between the EU perspective, sustainable development, and local social development. You do this by developing structures for collaboration, both internally and externally, and by contributing to giving residents good opportunities for transparency, dialogue, and influence.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for you who have a relevant university education in fields such as social sciences, political science, sustainable development, or another area that the employer deems equivalent. You have several years of experience in strategic development work, preferably with a focus on social sustainability, and have good knowledge of Agenda 2030, sustainable development, and the Convention on the Rights of the Child. We would like you to have experience from a politically governed organization.

Since a significant part of the work concerns EU issues and external funding, we would like you to have knowledge of the EU's funds, programs, and decision-making processes. Experience in project development and project management within externally funded initiatives is meritorious. You thrive in international contexts and express yourself effortlessly in both Swedish and English.

You have a good ability to lead and drive processes, both independently and in collaboration with others. You are a skilled communicator with a good ability to express yourself in speech and writing, in both Swedish and English, and have experience leading workshops, dialogues, and meetings.

As a person, you are relationship-building and collaboration-oriented, with a good ability to build and develop networks at the local, national, and international levels. You contribute to engagement and trust in the organization and thrive in a role where you alternate between strategic and operational tasks. You also have an ability to create wholeness and synergies between different initiatives and actors. It is meritorious if you have experience in change management, citizen dialogue, or collaboration between the public and voluntary sectors.

This includes functions such as finance, HR, IT, communication, citizen center, business, tourism, and shared services. Salary

Kristianstad Municipality applies individual and differentiated salary setting.

Start Date

The start date for the position is by agreement.

The hiring manager is on vacation in week 25 and cannot answer questions during that week.

Digital interviews with a selection of candidates are planned for weeks 27 and 28. Physical interviews with final candidates are planned for weeks 33 and 34.
