Ljungskile Folk High School is now looking for a teacher in biology for our Natural Science Foundation Year and mathematics for the General Course.

The Natural Science Foundation Year is a program for participants who wish to complete the requirements for further studies in natural sciences, engineering, and healthcare. Here you will meet curious and goal-oriented participants who have chosen this education to deepen their knowledge and create new opportunities for the future.

Job Responsibilities

As a biology teacher at the Natural Science Foundation Year, you will teach the courses Biology 1 and Biology 2 and collaborate closely with colleagues on the course. The position includes mathematics teaching at the General Course level, basic, 1, and 2.

You are passionate about biology education and want to work with an interdisciplinary approach and contribute to collegial collaboration for subject integration and thematic work, for example in biochemistry. You are a well-structured pedagogue who enjoys working process-oriented and taking advantage of participants' ideas to shape their education in biology. It is required that you have a holistic view of natural sciences and can meet participants who are knowledgeable and interested. The education maintains a high pace and you have great pedagogical freedom.

As a mathematics teacher in the General Course, you meet participants with different experiences, study backgrounds, and goals. The teaching combines subject knowledge with a relational and participant-oriented approach where the teacher plays an important role in creating motivation, structure, and hope for the future. Here it is important that you have a thoughtful attitude towards adult students who need support to pass mathematics studies. The participants study in mixed-level groups, which places demands on flexibility, clarity, and the ability to create a permissive learning environment where different prerequisites have room.

Ljungskile Folk High School is located between the sea and the mountains, with a fantastic view over the inlet. The proximity to forest and sea makes it easy to get out into nature. Bredfjället lies right behind the school with miles of hiking trails. In the sea, you can swim or paddle a kayak.

The school receives approximately 280 participants and the boarding house has space for about 90 of these.
