Court Clerk at the Court of Appeal for Lower Norrland
The Court of Appeal for Lower Norrland is one of the country's six courts of appeal. The court's main task is to review cases and matters appealed from the five district courts in Västernorrland, Gävleborg, and Jämtland counties.
The court is located in a beautiful and creative environment in central Sundsvall and has approximately 55 employees, about half of whom are lawyers. The court is divided into a judicial division and an administrative unit shared with the Administrative Court in Sundsvall. The judicial division is led by a Presiding Judge. The division also includes three Vice Presidents, ten Court of Appeal Judges, approximately six Assistant Judges on a temporary basis, eight Law Clerks, nine Court Clerks, and two Registrars.
In Sundsvall and nearby urban areas, there are approximately 110,000 residents. In addition to the court, Sundsvall is home to a university and several government agencies that collaborate within the framework of the Agency Network organization. There are good general transport connections to and from Sundsvall.

As a Court Clerk, you play a central role in the court's daily operations. Together with a dedicated team of clerks, registrars, and judges, you contribute to ensuring that cases and matters are handled in a legally secure and efficient manner. The work is varied, social, and requires both structure and flexibility – perfect for you who thrive in a dynamic environment.
Main Responsibilities
As a Court Clerk, you will:
- process cases and matters together with judges
- receive and register documents
- schedule court days and summon parties to hearings
- handle correspondence and monitor deadlines
- dispatch judgments and decisions
- maintain daily contact with parties, representatives, authorities, and the public
About You
In the role of Court Clerk, unexpected situations may arise, meaning you need to be stable, meticulous, and have a flexible approach. You may need to reprioritize your tasks with short notice while simultaneously having the ability to learn new tasks. It is important that you are responsible, service-oriented, and solution-focused, and that you care about the proper handling of our cases. Your digital competence is good, and you work efficiently with various systems and digital tools. You have excellent work capacity and actively contribute your competence to the court's common goals and work.
To be considered for employment, you must meet high demands regarding judgment, security awareness, and suitability. This means you uphold democratic values and the public sector values that govern the operations of the Swedish Courts Administration. We require that you comply with applicable laws.

Requirements
- completed and approved upper secondary education with final grades/diploma
- experience in administrative and service-oriented work, which the employer deems relevant for the position
- good computer skills and experience working in digital systems
- good proficiency in Swedish
If you have experience as a Court Clerk over the last two years with good grades, or other experience that the employer deems relevant, this may be considered an advantage.
Practical Information
The employment is for an indefinite period and may begin with a six-month probationary period. Start date: September 1st or as agreed.
