The Business and Competence Supply Unit is part of Region Västernorrland's work to strengthen the county's sustainable development. We work strategically with business development, competence supply, innovation, tourism, and transition for a resilient and inclusive Västernorrland. Our mandate is based on the Regional Development Strategy (RUS) and involves close collaboration with businesses, municipalities, educational actors, and other societal stakeholders.

We are in a development phase where several new employees have joined over the past year, while there is a stable foundation in the mandate and a clear common focus forward. You will become part of an engaged team with project managers, strategists, economists, and business developers who collaborate without hierarchy and have a strong desire to contribute to social benefit. As a new project economist, you will receive a structured introduction where you will not stand alone. You will have an experienced colleague by your side who will guide you into the work, and you will receive support in everything from budgeting and ongoing monitoring to reporting to funders and handling audits. The introduction gives you the security to gradually take greater individual responsibility in the role.

We are now looking for a Project Economist to join our team in Härnösand! The position is a permanent full-time employment with immediate start.

As a project economist with us, you will work among other things with:

• responsible for financial accounting, monitoring, and reporting in projects with external and internal funding
• prepare and follow up on project budgets in close cooperation with project managers and other colleagues
• ensure that projects are conducted and reported according to current regulations and funders' requirements
• coordinate and prepare economic background materials and reports to funders such as the Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth, the ESF Council, and the Swedish Board of Agriculture
• provide support in economic matters to project managers, steering groups, and other involved functions
• participate in audits, reviews, and follow-ups related to the projects
• if necessary, work with other related tasks, such as reviewing and paying out business support

We are looking for you who

• Have a university degree or vocational higher education in a field the employer finds relevant, or several years of professional experience in accounting, monitoring, and reporting
• Have experience in financial accounting, monitoring, or reporting
• Have good knowledge of Swedish in speech and writing
• Have a valid driver's license (Category B)
• Have good digital competence
• Have good knowledge of Excel
• Have good ability to communicate in English in writing, especially relevant for international projects or EU reporting
• Have experience working in system support for project management or economic monitoring

It is meritorious if you

• Have a degree in the field of economics and advanced studies in public administration, accounting, or EU project economics
• Have experience working with project budgets and economic reports in the public sector
• Have experience working with audits or reviews of projects from funders (e.g., Tillväxtverket, ESF)
