Job Description
We are looking for a driven Development Coordinator who will work specifically with children and young people placed in social care. In the City of Malmö, we work within the framework of the SAMS model. The SAMS model is a Swedish national collaboration model aimed at ensuring uninterrupted schooling for placed children and young people.
The primary school administration's mission is for children and young people to complete their education, which is the most important protective factor for doing well in life, both in the short and long term. We are therefore seeking a Development Coordinator who can work within this mission in close collaboration with guardians, schools, the upper secondary and adult education administration, and the employment and social services administration.
In this role, you will be the administration's expert on the Social Services Act and the circumstances surrounding children and young people under social care, monitoring their right to education. You will ensure that the needs and different prerequisites of children and young people are transferred to the receiving school, regardless of whether it is in another municipality or a social institution such as a SIS home, potential future detention centers, LVU placements, etc. You will inform guardians, schools, and institutions about the prerequisites and coordinate support for guardians, social services, schools, and housing for the benefit of the young person.
You will also shape the role based on the government's planned reduction of the age of criminal responsibility, which may affect the health, well-being, and schooling of children and young people related to long detention periods. This will also require close collaboration with schools, guardians, and social services.
To handle these tasks, we consider it important that you have solid knowledge of the Social Services Act and specifically the circumstances that apply when a child is under social care.
Responsibilities:
- You will have a coordination responsibility for the overall picture of placed children and young people in collaboration with the upper secondary and adult education administration, and representatives from the employment administration with the same mission.
- You will have an operational role in establishing a good workflow so that the administration has an overview and control of the children and young people who become relevant for schooling under various forms of social institutions.
- You will work operationally at the individual level before, during, and after placement in close collaboration with internal and external actors.
- You will have an advisory function to employees within different parts of the primary school administration, the upper secondary and adult education administration, the employment and social services administration, social institutions, guardians, and not least the student themselves.
Qualifications
We are looking for you who have a degree in social work with at least two years of relevant work experience. You have knowledge of the school as an organization and are familiar with curricula, the Education Act, and our mission of goal fulfillment for all students.
You have experience in investigating and documenting your work with high quality. You are accustomed to coordinating, leading processes, and driving development forward. It is an advantage if you have previously worked with children and young people placed in social care. You need to have knowledge of IT systems relevant to the role.
To succeed in the role, you are independent, solution-focused, proactive, collaborative, and structured.
The position is a fixed-term project appointment for one year.
