We are developing our organization to meet future needs and create even better conditions for our citizens. From April 2026, we will work in a new organization – focusing on modern, sustainable, and legally secure welfare.

Today, around 480 dedicated employees work here, making a difference every day for people at different stages of life. Together, we create security, involvement, and opportunities.

Do you want to make a difference through communication that is noticeable, touching, and engaging? We welcome your application!

Your role with us

The Department of Work and Welfare is undergoing an exciting transition to become an even more preventive and accessible social services department, in line with the intentions of the new Social Services Act. We now need reinforcement from a driven communicator who thrives on both strategic thinking and operational action.

Here, you will have a key role where you help our operations succeed with their communication, both internally to our employees and externally to our citizens. You will plan, develop, and implement communication initiatives that truly make a difference. The role also involves supporting and strengthening colleagues' communication skills, among other things through training and workshops. Together with your colleague communicator, you will take responsibility for the overall communication of the department. You will be responsible for different parts of the whole but also help each other.

We look forward to your application and the opportunity to welcome you to a job where your competence is truly valued!

In this recruitment process, we will call for interviews on an ongoing basis.

Who are we looking for?

You who apply have an education at least at the bachelor's level from a university/college in media and communication science or equivalent higher education/university education that the employer considers equivalent. We want you to have documented experience of communication work, preferably within municipal administration or another politically directed organization, as well as experience working with various communication channels.

It is meritorious if you have:

  • experience of communication initiatives to reach vulnerable target groups in society in a simple and clear way
  • experience of working with photography and film and graphic design
  • experience of supporting operations in press and media work
  • experience of working with information security and digitalization
  • knowledge of current legislation such as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Since the duties include quality-assuring information, very good Swedish in speech and writing is required. You have documented experience in formulating, writing, and summarizing texts and messages adapted to different target groups, as well as a good ability to choose channels to reach the right target groups with the right message. You can give presentations, lectures, and training and adapt them to the target group's needs and feedback. Furthermore, you have good IT skills and documented experience working with the Office package as well as CMS tools and Adobe CS. We also want you to have documented knowledge of image processing, layout, and web publishing. Experience of working with information security and accessibility in e-services is particularly valuable, as these areas are important parts of our digitalization journey.

As a person, you are confident in your professional role and know what you can contribute. You are curious, creative, innovative, and engaged so that you can quickly familiarize yourself with and summarize even new areas of knowledge and find new angles and solutions. We want you to be proactive, non-hierarchical, courageous, and team-oriented so that you can thrive in the role of communicator with us. You have the ability to create and maintain good relationships, both internally and externally. Furthermore, you have the ability to plan and organize your work, set goals, and follow up and conclude activities.
