Through your competence, commitment, and flexible working approach, you create the best possible conditions for students to develop and succeed in their learning. At the introduction program of Carlforsska Gymnasium, you follow the students' development closely and work together with colleagues and student health services to find solutions and paths forward. Our students' study plans are at the middle and upper secondary school level, which is why we are looking for you with qualifications for these grade levels.
Your responsibilities
At the introduction program of Carlforsska Gymnasium, the students' learning and personal development are at the center. Together, we work from a holistic perspective where each student is met based on their individual prerequisites, goals, and needs. All students have their own study plan, and we follow their development closely throughout the entire school day. We always start from the students' individual needs, which means the work is varied and changing. Continuous student intake takes place throughout the school year, and we work in close cooperation with student health services to find solutions, strategies, and paths forward for each student.
As a teacher with us, you teach Swedish and Social Studies subjects, or alternatively Mathematics combined with another subject. Teaching takes place both independently and together with colleagues, as we work closely together in the work team and often collaborate in the classroom to create the best conditions for our students. As part of the teaching, we also conduct study visits and other motivation-boosting activities and excursions. The role also includes mentorship, where you play an important role in supporting and guiding the students' development.
Your qualifications
We are looking for you who are motivated by working with students in need of special support and who see the value in building relationships, creating security, and contributing to the students' development. You have experience meeting students who have encountered challenges in school and learning and can adapt both teaching and interaction based on each student's individual needs. Creating trust and building trusting relationships with students and guardians is a natural part of your working style. You thrive in close cooperation with colleagues and feel secure in a daily routine where you flexibly switch between different roles based on the students' and the organization's needs.
You are a certified teacher for grades 4–6 or 7–9 with the qualification to teach Swedish and Social Studies subjects, or alternatively Mathematics combined with another subject. It is positive if you have knowledge within special pedagogy or education as a special needs teacher or special pedagogue. At the same time, the most important thing for us is your commitment to the target group and your desire to create good conditions for every student to succeed.
A B-category driver's license is an advantage as we sometimes conduct study visits and excursions together with the students.
What we offer
With us, you become part of a committed and ambitious work team with high spirits and a strong focus on students. We value close cooperation and plan and structure teaching together to best meet and support the students' learning and development. You get the opportunity to work closely with students in smaller groups, which provides good opportunities to build relationships, work individually adapted, and make a real difference in the students' daily lives.
We offer stimulating and developing work with great opportunities to find flexible solutions for both individuals and groups. Together, we focus on each student's strengths and possibilities, with the conviction that the right support and a secure interaction help students to develop and succeed.
Here you become part of something bigger! With warmth and respect, we show initiative in the big and the small. We live our core values in the meeting with each other and those we are here for. Every day, all year round, we ensure that Västerås functions. Together with your approx. 11,500 colleagues around the city, you get Sweden's most important job.
