About the role
The school currently has approximately 800 students in grades Pre-Kindergarten to 9, and around 80 employees. We are now looking for an engaged and reliable student assistant for the lower primary school (grades 1–3) who wants to support a small group of students during the school day and contribute to a stable and inclusive learning environment.
Responsibilities
As a student assistant, you work with a small group of students and help create conditions for them to succeed both socially and academically. You support the students during lessons, breaks, toilet visits, and other parts of the school day.
You become an important adult in the student's daily life and collaborate closely with teachers, after-school center staff, student health services, and guardians. The role requires patience, flexibility, and a calm and clear approach. You need to be able to adapt your support based on the student's needs while contributing to structure, security, and positive relationships.
At IES Södertälje, we work with common routines and close collaboration between different staff groups. We are therefore looking for you who enjoy working in a team and share our belief that clarity, relationships, and high expectations help students succeed.
Job Information
The position is a fixed-term employment at 90% for the academic year 2026/2027 (August–June).
We are looking for you who:
- Have experience working with children or young people.
- Have experience or interest in working with students with Neurodevelopmental Disorders (NDD/ADHD/Autism) or other support needs.
- Are calm, responsible, and solution-focused.
- Easily create good relationships with students.
- Are flexible and can adapt your support based on the situation and needs.
- Enjoy collaborating and communicating with different professional groups.
- Have good ability to express yourself in Swedish and English, both verbally and in writing.
Merits
- Experience working in schools or after-school centers.
- Education or courses in areas such as Neurodevelopmental Disorders (NDD), pedagogy, conflict management, or interaction skills.
- Experience with low-arousal approaches or working with extra adaptations and special support.
Personal qualities
We place great emphasis on personal suitability. We are looking for you who are secure, sensitive, and have a genuine commitment to supporting children in their development. You are a stable adult who can build trust and contribute to a calm and positive climate around the student.
You do not need to know everything from the start, but we are looking for someone who is willing to learn, collaborate, and be an active part of the school's work regarding the student's development and well-being.
We look forward to receiving your application!
