Komvux Västervik is currently looking for a substitute teacher in mathematics for the autumn of 2026. The position covers the period from 2026-08-14 to 2027-01-15. We are seeking a qualified mathematics teacher who, like us, is passionate about educating adult students.

The role as a teacher at Komvux includes standard teaching duties. Examples include instruction, supervision, planning, grading, and assessment. You will collaborate with colleagues locally and regionally, participate in professional development, conduct student follow-ups, and engage in development work. Collaboration with other actors, such as the Swedish Public Employment Service and integration services, as well as participation in information meetings, are also part of the role.

The position involves extensive contact with students and close cooperation with other staff. As a teacher with us, you will meet people from many different cultures and with diverse linguistic backgrounds.

All operations work according to national curricula. Courses are primarily conducted during the day, but most are also offered in the evenings or in distance learning formats. The position is based in Västervik.

We are looking for you who are a qualified teacher with several years of professional experience in the field, at both basic and upper secondary levels. You must have subject-specific qualification covering mathematics at the upper secondary level.

It is very important that you have good pedagogical skills, solid subject knowledge, and the ability to motivate and engage students. We would appreciate it if you had strong computer skills and experience working with distance learning. Key personal traits include the ability to collaborate and to be unpretentious. We have a fast pace, so flexibility and stress resilience are required.

It is important that you, as a teacher, can meet our students at their current knowledge level and that you have a respectful and trust-building approach. Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability and good pedagogical ability.

You must be able to communicate fluently in Swedish, both orally and in writing, and have good computer literacy.

The position is subject to a background check. Applicants must provide a certificate of no criminal record from the police before employment begins.
