The ultimate side gig? 50% Personal Assistant in Norrköping
Looking for a job that gives you maximum free time? Where you complete the entire week's working hours in a single day – and can use the rest of the days to study, freelance, or just do your own thing on your own terms? Then you've found the right place.
I am now looking for a part-time (50%) personal assistant. This means an average of one 24-hour shift per week where you are my extended arms and legs. The rest of the week is yours.
Who will you be working for? I am sometimes a radical activist and now quite a devoted allotment garden owner. I may have left pure laziness behind after turning 30, but I can still switch from intense political focus to just wanting to hang out without demands.
Currently, I work full-time in Stockholm with rights issues and victim support, which means we will commute and travel a lot during working hours. In addition, I am highly engaged politically (so expect intense meetings, debates, and election campaigns). When I surprisingly have free time, I share ownership of an allotment garden where we weed, fix things, hang out with friends, drink beer, and plan for world domination.
I use an electric wheelchair everywhere. When I'm not driving, I travel by train a lot (A LOT). I am engaged in everything and nothing at the same time. Sometimes I am a perfectionist – cucumbers must be chopped in a specific way, and as a boss, you're allowed a little micromanagement! At the same time, there are other things I care surprisingly little about. In short: I am wonderfully flawed and never entirely consistent. The position is based out of my home in central Norrköping, but as mentioned – Stockholm and other locations are a big part of everyday life.
Who are you? This setup is ideal for you who are studying at university or have another occupation where you control your own time. The shift usually starts at 22:00 and lasts until 22:00 the next day. This means you usually start the shift by sleeping (sleeping on-call) before we get going the next morning. You need to be available to work all days of the week, including weekends, but if you have occasional mandatory school commitments, it is usually possible to adapt.
I prefer that you are around 25–35+ years old, open, receptive, and good at following instructions. But the most important thing is that you are genuinely solution-oriented. My daily life is not always predictable. Plans can change in an instant due to political situations or train delays. You need to be someone who doesn't panic when the schedule falls apart, but rather shrugs their shoulders and goes with the flow.
Decent physical fitness and the ability to switch between high tempo (running to the train) and longer waiting times is an advantage. When I, for example, sit in long meetings, perfect gaps often arise where you can bury your nose in your course literature or manage your own projects. You don't need to have green fingers, but you shouldn't be afraid to take a shovel to the allotment garden.
The job is not about advanced care, but about service. You do not need prior experience as an assistant, but some form of work experience is preferred.
What does the job entail in practice? Working as my personal assistant means covering where my muscles fail in all of life's situations. This includes everything from daily tasks like morning routines and personal hygiene, to joining a political revolution, intense Almedalen weeks, weeding the allotment garden, or opening a bag of chips on the sofa. If you have an interest in social issues and are not a conservative pain in the neck, we will probably have a lot of fun.
Do you like being where the action is, but have a feel for when to step up and when to step back in professional environments? Then this is definitely the job for you.
QUICK FACTS
- Scope: Part-time (50%), which means an average of 1 shift per week of 24 hours. The times are usually 22:00–22:00 (of which a few hours are sleeping on-call at night).
- Salary: approx. 160 SEK/hour + overtime pay (Collective Agreement applies). The reason the hourly rate is what it is depends on the government's failure to adjust the assistance allowance, so direct any frustration there – instead, I offer an incredibly flexible and fair work environment!
- Travel & Logistics: All travel related to the job is included. We start and end almost always in Norrköping.
- Food on the go: For "normal" days, it is perfectly fine to bring a lunchbox (even though meal times can be a bit fluid). If we are away on longer trips where there is no fridge or microwave, a daily allowance is provided.
- Driver's License: Category B driver's license and driving experience are an absolute requirement.
- Language: Swedish or English.
- Location: Central Norrköping, with frequent trips to Stockholm.
- Start date: According to agreement.
