We are currently looking for an Automation Engineer for our client in Solna. This is a consultancy assignment through The Place, starting in June 2026 and running until January 31, 2027.

About the Role As an Automation Engineer, you will become part of an experienced and engaged team consisting of project managers, designers, programmers, and testers. The assignment covers projects within rail transport, with a focus on the construction and reconstruction of technical systems within railway infrastructure across Sweden.

In this role, you will contribute throughout the entire project flow – from design and programming to testing and commissioning of station control systems. You will also serve as technical support to project managers within your area of expertise.

The work takes place primarily in modern automation environments with a focus on RTU, PLC, and SCADA, including systems and tools for configuration, communication, and visualization.

Qualifications

• Relevant university, college, or vocational higher education degree
• Experience in programming and configuration within control systems (PLC, RTU and/or SCADA)
• Experience with communication protocols such as IEC 60870-5-101/104 and/or Modbus
• Very good proficiency in Swedish and English, both spoken and written
• Valid driver's license (Category B) as the role involves travel within Sweden

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in testing and commissioning
• Knowledge of C++ and/or Python
• Experience working within railway infrastructure
• Experience in electrical design
