Job Responsibilities
The position is organized within Central Student Health Services, which is a municipal-wide unit with various professional competencies to meet the needs of children and young people for optimal development, learning, and health. At Central Student Health Services, we work in teams consisting of different professions collaborating: special needs teachers for school, special needs teachers for preschool, school counselors, school nurses, school psychologists, speech-language and hearing educators, and an SLS developer.
As a special needs teacher for preschool in Säter Municipality, you primarily collaborate with special needs teachers, SLS developers, speech-language and hearing educators, as well as principals and preschool staff. You are part of the Central Student Health Services team and participate, for example, in APF (School Health Team) meetings with that team.
You work on assignments that come in via requests from principals to our journal system, Prorenata. Together with a special needs teacher colleague and an SLS developer, you form a team that jointly decides which cases to enter and work on, supported by the procedure for support measures within the preschool. You lead and distribute your work independently and have support from your manager and team in decisions where needed.
The assignment includes participating in the Preschool Team, led by the Head of Student Health Services, where principals, special needs teachers for preschool, SLS developers, speech-language and hearing educators, and pedagogists jointly plan and carry out development work for the preschool. All with a focus on working preventively and health-promoting to contribute to a good inclusive learning environment for our children.
The work includes supervision for preschool staff, in-depth mapping, observations, and preventive measures. The special needs teachers plan and implement competence development across the municipality in collaboration with principals and the manager of Student Health Services. In this role, you have the opportunity to influence and drive the development of the municipality and the preschool.
The special needs teacher should be a qualified conversation partner/advisor for principals, preschool staff, resources, and parents in pedagogical matters. The special needs teacher supervises staff individually and in groups. The work also includes collaboration with external partners such as habilitation services.
There is a close and continuous collaboration within the special needs teacher group, which enables, for example, colleague supervision and utilizing each other's competencies within the special needs pedagogical field. This means you receive significant support in your own profession. The special needs teacher group, consisting of special needs teachers for both preschool and school, receives continuous external supervision.
Qualifications
We prefer that you have a degree in special needs pedagogy. If not, you have a special teacher education with documented specialization in special needs pedagogy.
You have a deep understanding of children's learning and development in the early years. You have knowledge of the importance of play for language, social interaction, and learning. You have a good ability and knowledge regarding how to adapt teaching and learning environments based on children's different needs. You have good knowledge of inclusive working methods in preschool and an idea of how this can take shape.
It is meritorious if you have experience with documentation in the child and student health journal system, Prorenata.
