The Workplace

Björkås School is now looking for an engaged educator who wants to make a difference in the daily lives of our students. Our adapted comprehensive school is a place where every student has the opportunity to develop based on their own prerequisites.

As a preschool teacher/teacher at Ludvika Adapted Comprehensive School, you will become part of a team where we work together to be the best school for every student who attends us. In our team, you will work together with special needs teachers, special educators, preschool teachers, teachers, after-school care staff, teaching assistants, and subject teachers (crafts, PE, music, Swedish for Immigrants). At our workplace, we have a positive and calm atmosphere where everyone has an important role and is equally valuable. We have a high staff density with many opportunities to develop the school and teaching. The classes are structured with one educator and teaching assistants based on the specific needs of that class. If you are a new educator in our operations, you will receive guidance from experienced special needs teachers/special educators. Our vision is "important for real" – we design the best teaching for each student based on steering documents and laws with a focus on the future and independence. Here we have the opportunity to shape the school based on students' individual needs and prerequisites.

If you are a teacher who is interested and enjoys working with us, the principal may decide to provide support from the municipality to further educate yourself as a special needs teacher with a focus on intellectual disability.

Responsibilities

As an educator, you have class teacher responsibility (subject areas/subjects), which means you are responsible for the students' knowledge development and leader of the class team (teaching assistants and students). You lead and organize the work in the class so that it becomes a safe learning environment and are involved and responsible for students and the development areas of the operation at the school.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who:

• Are a licensed preschool teacher/teacher for younger ages.
• Have experience working with students in adapted comprehensive school or similar target groups.
• Are knowledgeable in pedagogical methods suitable for students with special needs, such as visual supports, sign communication (TAKK).
• Are patient, flexible, responsive, and have a strong empathetic ability.
• Have a good ability to read situations and work preventively by staying one step ahead.
• Great importance is also placed on personal responsibility, drive, and initiative (where applicable).
• Are creative and can adapt teaching to engage all students, regardless of ability.
• Have good knowledge of the Swedish language (spoken and written).
• Great importance will be placed on personal qualities and suitability.
• You must also have a B driver's license to drive the school's minibus.
