The Department of Speech and Language Pathology at the Section for Health and Rehabilitation has a major undergraduate education mandate, responsible for a four-year undergraduate program in speech and language pathology. The department also offers advanced-level courses and conducts research in the field of speech and language pathology. The department consists of approximately 15 teachers and researchers and six doctoral students. All are engaged in teaching on the speech and language pathology program as well as supervising theses at undergraduate, advanced, and doctoral levels. The research focuses on both developmental and acquired communication disorders. The department also has a mandate from the National Board of Health and Welfare to conduct knowledge tests for speech and language pathologists from countries outside the EU who are seeking Swedish licensure.

Subject Description
Speech and language pathology is defined as the study of language, voice, speech, and swallowing disorders and their treatment. As an academic discipline, speech and language pathology describes and explains various forms of communication difficulties due to language, voice, or speech disorders, how they should be assessed and treated, and their consequences for a person's personality, health, and quality of life. The teaching and research within the scope of this position should focus on developmental speech and language disorders, thereby complementing and strengthening existing activities at the Department of Speech and Language Pathology.
Job Responsibilities
The responsibilities primarily include being responsible for teaching at the undergraduate and advanced levels in the area of developmental speech and language disorders. This also includes teaching on standalone courses and supervising theses at undergraduate, advanced, and doctoral levels within the area. The applicant's professional experience should be applied in relevant teaching situations. The position includes course responsibility, course planning, examinations, administration, and following knowledge development within the area. The position also includes conducting research within the subject area of the position and applying for external research funding. Leadership tasks may be included.
Qualifications
Qualifications for employment as a teacher are regulated in the Higher Education Ordinance Chapter 4 and Göteborg University's employment regulations.
For qualification, a completed doctoral degree, demonstrated pedagogical competence, and Swedish speech and language pathology licensure are required. The ability to teach in both Swedish and English is a requirement.
