Responsibilities
Are you a courageous and confident leader who enjoys thinking outside the box and driving development through high employee involvement? Do you have the ability to build trust-based relationships and foster good collaborations? Then apply for the position of Unit Manager for the Sports Hall Unit!
The Facilities Department is currently undergoing organizational change to meet future needs and increasing expansion rates, as several new facilities are being built for our visitors. The department is led by a Department Manager and three Business Managers: Planning, Ice Rinks and Sports Halls, Swimming and Wellness, and Business Support. Currently, a total of 14 unit managers and approximately 300 employees work within the department.
We are now looking for a Unit Manager who wants to take responsibility for leading the operational work of one of the sports hall units. The unit currently consists of 6 staffed sports halls spread across the city. The visitors are primarily school students with teachers and associations conducting various types of leader-led activities. In this role, you will be the manager for approximately 20 employees, whom you lead with the help of a Team Leader. The goal is to provide well-functioning facilities that contribute to improved public health and a vibrant association life through modern and efficient working methods that meet today's and future needs.
The assignment involves leading, developing, and being responsible for the unit from a holistic perspective regarding operations, economy, and personnel. Always keeping the visitor in focus, ensuring compliance with authority requirements, and working on internal and external collaboration are some of the most important areas of responsibility for the Unit Manager. You have the ability to think innovatively and lead and develop the operations and employees so that service quality maintains the high level we always strive for. You contribute to structure and clarity by translating and clarifying goals and priorities for operational management. Since the department is in the midst of reorganization, a large part of the work will initially focus on organizational development, change management, and broadly organizing the unit in a way that contributes to the whole and goal achievement.
Together with your Business Manager and fellow managers, you contribute to the overall steering and business development for the entire business area.
The work is scheduled during daytime Monday to Friday. Some evening and weekend work occurs as needed, and as a manager, you are on call approximately every 10th week.
Qualifications
We are looking for you who have a university or college degree, or equivalent work experience and training from the employer related to the managerial role that the employer deems relevant. You should have leadership experience from an operations, delivery, and service organization, as well as knowledge in economics and work environment. It is also meritorious if you have experience working in one or more parts of the area of planning, ice, and sports halls, as well as leadership experience from a politically governed organization.
We place great emphasis on your personal competencies. To succeed in the role of Unit Manager with us, you are unpretentious and confident in your leadership role, making you a role model and a stable support for your team. You drive your unit forward through initiatives for improvements and regularly reflect on what needs to be developed in your operations. As a leader, you are proactive, tackle challenges, solve problems, and make decisions that lead forward. You are professional and can navigate based on the City of Gothenburg's approach.
With a holistic perspective, you show interest in and collaborate on overarching issues to create added value. You have the ability to place the significance of your own operations in a larger context, inspiring, motivating, and engaging your employees and your surroundings.
Your good collaboration skills are shown by listening, showing interest, and respect. At the same time, you can act independently based on what situations require, with the courage to make your own decisions within the framework of your assignment, without being dependent on others.
We welcome your application!
