Job Description
Dammfriskolan is looking for a special needs teacher (specialpedagog) for our adapted primary school.
You will be the class teacher for a class in grades 7–9 with a subject focus. The students have intellectual disabilities and follow the curriculum for adapted primary school. The role involves planning, implementing, and evaluating teaching based on official documents and the students' needs, in close collaboration with the teaching team. The work is characterized by clear pedagogy, differentiated instruction, and the use of visual support and Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC). As the coordinating special needs teacher in the school's special education group, you are also responsible for planning and organizing the group's work, as well as collaborating with student health services, school leadership, and guardians. You conduct pedagogical assessments, work with additional adaptations and special support, and document according to current guidelines. We are looking for you who are a certified teacher with a special needs teacher degree and who want to contribute to a safe and accessible learning environment for our students. Selection and interviews will take place on an ongoing basis.
Qualifications
We are looking for you who are a certified teacher with a special needs teacher degree, preferably with a focus on intellectual disabilities. You have experience working in adapted primary school and in teaching within both subjects and subject areas. Previous experience as a special needs teacher is an advantage. You have good knowledge of students' various needs and how to create accessible learning environments, including experience with Neurodevelopmental Disorders (NDD/ADHD/Autism), low-affective interaction, and communication support. You are accustomed to working with picture support, visual strategies, and alternative learning tools, as well as Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS) and digital tools such as Widget Go and Inprint. Experience with students with epilepsy is desirable. You have good knowledge of the school's official documents and use them actively in your work.
We are looking for a person with strong didactic skills, good digital competence, and the ability to creatively adapt teaching based on students' needs. You build good relationships with students, guardians, and colleagues, are calm, receptive, and structured, and can work both independently and in a team. Flexibility and adaptability are important as students' needs may vary. You have a good command of Swedish in both speech and writing and have a positive view of students that permeates your work.
