Idrottsgymnasiet Örebro, part of Virginska Gymnasium, is looking for a driven and open-minded teacher in mathematics and physical education. We are looking for you who are passionate about sports and want to help our students combine their studies with a sporting interest or career.

About the position

The position involves teaching in the subjects of mathematics and physical education. You plan your work independently and teach within these subjects, while collaborating with other school staff to create the best possible environment for our students. We also place great emphasis on mentorship, meaning you are expected to invest time and commitment in your mentored students.

Examples of tasks:

• plan, implement, and evaluate teaching in the subjects you are qualified to teach
• use methods and approaches that lead to the best possible goal achievement
• act as a mentor for students / perform homeroom teacher duties
• support students' social development
• create a good learning environment
• keep up to date with current research within your field of operation
• be familiar with and follow the organization's current laws, policies, and procedures, and work and document in the operational systems in place

About the workplace

Virginska Gymnasium is one of four upper secondary schools in Örebro. The school offers national programs, a national gymnasium for the deaf and hard of hearing, introductory programs, and an adapted upper secondary school. The Sports Gymnasium is the municipality's most successful school operation in terms of student goal achievement, well-being, and number of applicants. The operation consists of four upper secondary programs and about fifteen different sports alternatives. The entire Virginska school has approximately 1,400 students, of whom IDGY has approximately 860 students. The number of staff at IDGY is approximately 65.

Virginska Gymnasium is part of the Upper Secondary and Labor Market Administration. Here, 1,400 employees work in a variety of roles to give young people and adult residents of Örebro the same opportunities for education and self-sufficiency. Qualifications

As a teacher with us, it is important that you are secure, stable, and can relate in a way that is adapted to the situation. You have the ability to adapt teaching based on the group and individual students, as well as an understanding that all students have different prerequisites. We see that you find it easy to collaborate with both students, guardians, and colleagues and contribute to a secure school environment. As a teacher, you are self-reliant in your work, take responsibility for your task, and are proactive.

You adapt easily to changed circumstances and see opportunities in changes. Furthermore, you master the Swedish language to such an extent that you can communicate with students and other staff, and that you can document in writing what the operation requires.

We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

Requirements:

• teacher certification with eligibility to teach mathematics and physical education in upper secondary school, or alternatively a degree certificate that qualifies for certification
