Your working day as a University Lecturer

The position involves teaching as well as the development and planning of courses. All teaching is online-based. Participation in subject development and the general development of operations is included in the duties.

Are you the person we are looking for?

In accordance with Chapter 4, Section 4 of the Higher Education Ordinance (HF), the eligibility requirements for a University Lecturer are as follows:

• Documented pedagogical skill
• A completed doctoral degree or equivalent scientific competence, or other professional competence that is significant given the subject content of the position and the duties involved

For this position, you must also:

• hold a doctoral degree/degree in Arabic or equivalent
• have documented experience of teaching at the higher education level
• fluent in English
• master Modern Standard Arabic in both speech and writing
• be knowledgeable about modern Arabic literature and contemporary cultural trends

It is an advantage if you

• have experience of course development
• have experience of online teaching at an academic level
• have experience of teaching Arabic
• have doctoral education in Arabic
• have the ability to communicate in Swedish, as this is required to perform duties within teaching, administration, and collaboration
• have eligible higher education pedagogical education

Collaborative skills are required for the appointment of a University Lecturer. Other competencies that may be required include administrative ability, initiative, a high degree of responsibility, and leadership skills.

Evaluation Criteria

In this recruitment, the University will consider the candidate who, after a qualitative overall assessment of scientific and pedagogical skill as well as other qualifications relevant to the position, is judged to have the best prerequisites for fulfilling the duties of the position.

Equal attention will be paid to the assessment of pedagogical skill as to scientific skill according to HF Chapter 4. A pedagogical test may potentially be applied.

The Position

The position is a temporary appointment, 75-100% full-time, with a start date of 2026-08-15 until 2027-08-15 (with possible extension). Dalarna University is a higher education institution operating in two locations. The place of work for this position is Falun, and some work will also take place in Borlänge.
