The Centre for Mathematical Sciences has approximately 150 employees, of whom about 40 are at the Mathematics NF division where this position is located. The other divisions are Mathematics LTH (numerical analysis) and Mathematical Statistics. Mathematics NF has overall responsibility for the natural science bachelor's and master's programs in mathematics, as well as for the mathematics, programming, and subject didactics courses included in the subject teacher education for upper secondary school teachers at the Department of Education, Lund University.

Job Description

The duties primarily involve teaching the basic course ÄMAA01 Single-variable Calculus for Subject Teachers (13 credits), which is part of the mathematics subject teacher education at Lund University.

The position is a fixed-term appointment at 60% from 2026-08-01 or as agreed, until 2027-01-31.

Qualifications

To be eligible for appointment as a University Lecturer (Universitetsadjunkt), you must have:

• completed an advanced degree or otherwise acquired equivalent knowledge, as well as other competence that is significant given the subject orientation of the position and the duties involved,
• shown pedagogical skill.

Great importance is attached to pedagogical training and documented pedagogical ability. Among other things, regulations require higher education pedagogical training of at least five weeks or equivalent knowledge acquired in another way. In special cases, an exemption from this requirement may be granted.

For teachers at Lund University, the general eligibility requirement is to be suitable for and possess the other abilities needed to perform the duties of the position well.

Assessment Criteria

When appointing a University Lecturer, the following shall form the basis for assessment:

• The applicant must have good subject knowledge relevant to the content of the position and the duties involved.
• The applicant must have good pedagogical ability, meaning a good ability to conduct and develop teaching at the university level.
• The applicant must have good professional experience or other relevant experience for the position.
• The applicant must be able to teach in both Swedish and English.

Consideration will also be given to good teamwork skills, drive, and independence, as well as how the applicant can strengthen and complement the department's work with mathematics teaching within the subject teacher education. Documented experience and ability to teach and develop mathematics courses are meritorious.

Consideration will be given to Lund University's regulations on appointments.
