Job Description

Holmaskolan is currently looking for a primary school teacher (grades 4-6) in Visual Arts.

The role involves planning and conducting lessons in Visual Arts for grades 4-6, participating in the general work of the teaching team, and teaching in adapted primary school classes.

The common goal for the Holma area is that our children and students achieve the goals by grade 9. They should leave primary school with a positive outlook on the future and a strong identity. We know that language is one of the keys to this. Therefore, we work with language development, which among other things emphasizes the important role of reading from preschool and throughout the entire school period. Our library, with an employed librarian, is central to this work. Everyone comes here, both from preschool class, after-school centers, and school, to borrow books, listen to stories, read, and participate in other language-developing activities. Language development takes place in all subjects, in all conversations and meetings. Learning should be based on a holistic approach and a thematic working method where the included subjects are integrated. This means that the methods are based on creating understanding and forming concepts. We encourage different ways of expressing oneself, for example through creative work.

The continuous work with the code of conduct is prioritized in all our operations. All teaching teams work with norms and values. To prevent various forms of harassment, we work on strengthening students' positive self-image and encouraging positive peer relationships. This is also described in our equal treatment plan. Students' participation and responsibility in their own learning is important, and all students have an individual development plan. Students have influence in student councils and class councils. Our approach is characterized by a respectful and positive view of our work and all our meetings with each other, students, and parents.

Qualifications

You who apply are a certified teacher with eligibility to teach grades 4-6/1-6 in Visual Arts. If you have previous experience working as a teacher and within adapted primary school, we see this as an advantage.

You have good insight into and knowledge of the school's steering documents and can use them effectively in your daily work. Furthermore, you have good didactic and pedagogical skills and can therefore lead and organize your work to create study peace and a good learning environment for our students throughout their school day.

Based on evidence-based research, you can develop your work and, with good knowledge and experience, work effectively with relevant digital tools.

About the Workplace

Our pedagogical focus is language development from a broad perspective. There is extensive knowledge in the area on how to work with language development. We have decided that language should be developed in all subjects and in all meetings. There are many students here with a mother tongue other than Swedish, and we know that it is important to know one's mother tongue to acquire good Swedish. We also work continuously with code of conduct issues. The school library has a central function at the school and a large selection of books. At Holmaskolan, we work with experience-based learning. This means that students regularly get to experience an activity outside the Holma area. The experience is prepared and followed up based on a special structure that we have built up. The reason we do this is so that students get a deeper understanding of language as experiences create inner images. We collaborate with Malmö Museum and Malmö University on this, among others.
