Description

Rescue Services East Sweden is a growing municipal rescue service consortium serving approximately 347,000 residents in our area. We operate within an organization that enjoys high public trust, where our residents feel secure knowing we are always available—regardless of the situation, 24/7. In 2025, we conducted 4,287 emergency responses. To meet future needs, we are now seeking several qualified and dedicated firefighters for our four full-time stations in Linköping and Norrköping.

As a firefighter within RTÖG, you will become part of a competent and tightly knit organization. The role involves both operational rescue missions and preventive work, as well as training initiatives. The position includes regular exercise activities, continuous professional development, and responsibility for the maintenance and inspection of equipment.

Within RTÖG, there are excellent opportunities for professional development in several specialized areas, such as rescue diving, heavy rescue, operations in complex fire environments, working at heights, handling chemical accidents, and search and rescue missions.

Qualifications:

  • Firefighter education (SMO diploma or another equivalent full-time education approved by the employer),

    or

  • Part-time education (GRIB/Rescue Operation) with at least two years of continuous experience as a full-time firefighter,

    or

  • Part-time education (GRIB/Rescue Operation) with at least five years of experience from RIB in the Swedish rescue service.

Other Requirements:

Driver's license with categories B and C. If you lack a C-license at the time of employment, you may still be considered, provided you obtain the license within six months. The employment will then start as a probationary position.

Passing the physical fitness test (rullbandstest) according to current AFS requirements.

Certificate of passing the swimming proficiency requirements according to the Gold Badge (Guldbojen).

Good command of Swedish in speech and writing, as well as good computer skills.

Basic training as a smoke and chemical diver according to current AFS requirements, with a passed medical examination at the start of employment.

It is an advantage if you have a driver's license with category E and/or are trained as a rescue diver or dive leader.

The following copies must be attached to the application:

  • Applicants with completed education must attach educational certificates (SMO, GRIB). If you are still undergoing education, please note this in the application instead.
  • Driver's license.
  • Protocol - passed physical fitness test; must not be issued before March 1, 2026.
  • Protocol - passed Gold Badge test; must not be issued before March 1, 2026.

We plan to meet candidates at Station Lambohov in Linköping for interviews, the physical fitness test according to current AFS requirements, PAFF laps (a job-related test), and surface rescue tests during week 41.

The appointment will be made after agreement.

About Us

We are a municipal consortium with five member municipalities: Linköping, Norrköping, Söderköping, Valdemarsvik, and Åtvidaberg. We have a total of approximately 470 employees within both the administrative organization and the operational activities. The consortium includes four full-time stations, twelve part-time stations, and four rescue reserves, and we have an average of approximately 75 employees on duty around the clock.
