5 Positions Available – Student Assistants for Floraskolan and Bokenässkolan in Kristianstad

We are currently seeking five dedicated student assistants for two of Kristianstad Municipality’s adapted schools: Floraskolan and Bokenässkolan. Together, we offer a safe, stimulating, and inclusive environment where every student's needs are at the center.

Our Schools

Floraskolan is an adapted school for students with intellectual disabilities and autism. The school is located centrally in Kristianstad, close to beautiful natural areas and the city center. Here, teaching is offered in small groups with fewer stimuli to create a calm and safe learning environment. Students are in grades 1–6, and the school also has an active after-school program.

Bokenässkolan is an adapted primary school opening its doors this autumn. The school is located on the beautiful Lingenäset peninsula, surrounded by nature. Students here are in grades 1–9. Just like at Floraskolan, teaching is provided in smaller groups with an adapted environment. Bokenässkolan also offers an after-school program.

Within the adapted primary school, the staff-to-student ratio is high. Each class has a team consisting of special education teachers, preschool/after-school teachers, and student assistants who work closely together to meet students' individual needs.

Teaching and Pedagogy

Teaching is tailored to each student's individual prerequisites, with a focus on strengths and development. We strive for a holistic view of the student and challenge both curiosity and independence. The goal is for all students to be able to participate actively in all learning situations and activities.

The schools have a broad pedagogical platform that permeates the entire operation. Through good treatment, an inclusive approach, formative attitudes, and language-developing working methods, we create a safe school where students develop towards their goals.

Your Role as a Student Assistant

As a student assistant, you work to help and stimulate students in need of special support towards learning, development, and independence, both individually and in groups. You work with a low-affective approach and contribute to creating a safe environment and clear frameworks for the students. The focus is on studies as well as developing cooperation and relationships in school.

The work is carried out on behalf of the responsible teacher based on the current curriculum. You support students throughout the entire school day – in the classroom, during breaks, in the after-school program, during meals and hygiene situations, and during other activities.

The work requires constant attention, analysis, and understanding of situations in and outside the classroom. In close collaboration with teachers and other student assistants, you strive to find individual solutions so that every student can benefit from the teaching in the best possible way. Understanding each other's professional roles is crucial.

Contact and cooperation with guardians is an important part of the assignment. You are also expected to actively contribute to the development of the workplace and take responsibility for your own professional development. Note that the work can be physically demanding and psychologically stressful.

Who Are We Looking For?

We are looking for you who have one of the following competencies:

  • A high school diploma from the Child and Youth Program with a focus on pedagogical and social work.
  • A passing grade from the Student Assistant vocational package within adult education, or equivalent training as a student assistant within folk high schools.
  • A degree or passing grade from other training that the employer assesses as sufficiently comprehensive within pedagogy and child development and learning.
  • Or: You meet parts of the educational requirements and have at least three years of experience working as a student assistant.

We value good pedagogical ability and experience working with people with functional variations. You should have the ability to meet school-age children and be sensitive to their needs. Understanding the role of a student assistant is important, and knowledge of the curriculum is an advantage. Documented experience working as a student assistant, or other experience from similar tasks or work life experience, is a plus.

You must have the ability to choose the right pedagogical methods and techniques within the schools' frameworks. We are looking for someone who can inspire, motivate, and stimulate students in their development. You are a balanced and stable person with a professional attitude, handling challenging situations in a patient, secure, and calm manner. Knowledge of challenging behavior as well as care and hygiene situations is required.

To succeed in the role of student assistant, it is important that you are responsible, have good empathy, and can collaborate effectively. Since the work can be physically demanding, we expect you to be physically fit. You must be able to swim, ride a bicycle, and hold a B-driver's license for manual transmission, as you may need to escort or drive students to various activities.

Meritorious:

  • Knowledge of TAKK (Supporting Communication with Signs).
  • Knowledge of visual and hearing impairments.
  • Knowledge of digital communication aids.

To allow us to assess your application, please attach your degree certificate or grades for your completed education. Upon employment, a extract from the police record is required, according to regulations in Chapter 2, Sections 31–33 of the Education Act.
