About the Position

Do you want to make a difference for young people and be a significant adult figure in their daily lives?

We are looking for a Student Coach who wants to work both preventively and promotively within upper secondary schools and with young people under the Municipal Activity Responsibility (KAA). This position is aimed at you who have a strong relational approach and see possibilities in every individual.

As a Student Coach, you work closely with students to strengthen their attendance, motivation, and opportunities for success in school. You are part of the school's student health team and collaborate with school staff, guardians, and external actors to create good conditions for the students' development and well-being.

Within the KAA framework, you work proactively with young people who are not studying or working. By building relationships, assessing needs, and offering support, you help young people find pathways towards studies, work, or other meaningful activities.

The position also includes administrative tasks related to inter-municipal compensation (IKE).

We are looking for someone who is confident in interactions with young people, has the ability to build trusting relationships, and is comfortable holding both supportive and challenging conversations when the situation requires it.

Responsibilities

  • Work preventively and promotively to increase attendance, motivation, and goal achievement.
  • Provide support and coaching to students both individually and in groups.
  • Participate in the school's student health work as part of the student health team.
  • Work proactively within KAA and establish contact with young people who are outside of studies and work.
  • Assess needs and implement individual support measures.
  • Collaborate with guardians, authorities, and other internal and external actors.
  • Conduct motivational interviewing and support young people in change processes.
  • Handle administration related to KAA and IKE.

Qualifications

Requirements

  • Experience working with young people.
  • Good knowledge of the school's mission and operations.
  • Very good proficiency in Swedish, both spoken and written.
  • Good computer skills.
  • Valid B-driver's license.

Merits

  • Experience in student health work.
  • Post-secondary education as a social pedagogue, social worker, or other education deemed equivalent by the employer.
  • Knowledge of and experience working with young people with neurodevelopmental disorders (NPF).
  • Education or experience in motivational interviewing (MI).
  • Experience in conflict management and conflict resolution.
  • Knowledge of trauma and trauma-informed care.
  • Knowledge of addiction issues.
  • Experience working within KAA or with young people who are neither working nor studying.

Personal Qualities

We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

To thrive in this role, you need to be relationship-building, receptive, and confident in your interactions with people. You have a good ability to build trust, handle difficult conversations, and meet young people with respect, clarity, and persistence. You are flexible, team-oriented, and have a genuine commitment to supporting young people in their development.

What We Offer the opportunity for a wellness hour during working hours or a wellness allowance. There is free access to a gym in our premises, and we strive to have a competence development plan for all our employees.
