Are you a skilled educator who wants to drive pedagogical development alongside your teaching duties? Bergaskolan is currently looking for three senior teachers who, together with the school's current senior teachers, will lead learning and development to ensure Bergaskolan is ready for the new curriculum 2028!

Bergaskolan currently has three dedicated senior teachers who carry out pedagogical development at the school on behalf of the management team. In this role, you will drive and lead the school's work to prepare for the changes taking place within the primary and secondary school system.

In close consultation with the school management, you will have good conditions to plan, implement, and evaluate the development initiatives you are responsible for. Your development initiatives will inspire your colleagues and contribute to higher goal achievement.

The role will primarily involve teaching. You will conduct varied, creative, and engaging teaching for our students, both individually and in teams. You will find strategies to reach every student and contribute to increased goal achievement. You will plan, assess, evaluate, and develop the pedagogical activities in accordance with the school's governing documents and systematic quality work. The senior teacher works at their workplace but also has a partly municipal/administrative-wide assignment by spreading good examples.

Qualifications

You are a certified teacher for grades 1–7 or F–3/4–6 with qualifications in Swedish/Social Studies or Mathematics/Natural Sciences. Having qualifications in additional subjects is considered an advantage. It is also advantageous if you have completed competence development in language-developing reading and writing, or have undergone process leadership training.

To be considered for the senior teacher role, you must be able to document, through records, at least four years of well-regarded work after graduation involving teaching within one or more employments in the school system. Experience in mentoring other teachers and driving development processes based on systematic quality work is considered an advantage. It is also an advantage if you have advanced competence/experience in working with language-developing teaching. Furthermore, it is an advantage if you have knowledge of different methods that, according to research and proven experience, lead to increased goal achievement.

Based on evidence-based research, you can develop your work, and with good knowledge and practice, you work efficiently with relevant digital tools.

About the Workplace

Bergaskolan is a large F–9 primary school with an associated after-school center. There are also two classes within adapted primary school for older students and associated short-term stays. Our premises are well adapted for the activities taking place within them. The proximity to Limhamn Sports Ground and sports hall is something we utilize well. Ahead of autumn 2026, the school is restructuring its work and development organization, where deputy principals will in greater extent be given the opportunity to work close to their areas of responsibility. The principal leads the combined student health care, which includes school nurses, counselors, SYV (career guidance counselors), and special needs educators. Special teachers are also part of the Student Health Team (SHT) regarding knowledge development and follow-up. Our pedagogical focus lies on language- and knowledge-developing work that should permeate the entire school. In our earlier school years, we invest strongly in meeting all our students, with a clear focus on reading, writing, and arithmetic. At Bergaskolan, we actively work to ensure that every student feels comfortable and safe. Just as important as our students thriving and feeling well is that our employees have clear assignments that are followed up and work teams that support each other and work together towards our goals. The school management works closely with the work teams for a common and focused pedagogical leadership that leads to a safe school and good results for both students and staff.
