About the Role

International English School Värmdö opened in 2021 and has since built a strong school culture with clear routines, high expectations, and good relationships between students and staff. At IES Värmdö, we work together to create a safe, calm, and positive learning environment where students are given the best possible conditions to develop both academically and socially.

The school currently has approximately 610 students in grades F–9 and around 65 employees. We are now looking for an engaged and reliable student assistant for the lower primary school (grades F–3) who wants to support a student during the school day and contribute to a stable and inclusive learning environment.

Responsibilities

As a student assistant, you work closely with one student throughout the school day, helping to create the conditions for the student to succeed both socially and academically. You support the student during lessons, transitions, breaks, and other parts of the school day, and if necessary, also during after-school activities.

You will become an important adult in the student's daily life and collaborate closely with teachers, after-school staff, student health services, and guardians. The role requires patience, flexibility, and a calm and clear approach. You need to be able to adapt your support based on the student's needs while contributing to structure, security, and positive relationships.

At IES Värmdö, we work with common routines and close collaboration between different staff groups. We are therefore looking for you who enjoys working in a team and shares our belief that clarity, relationships, and high expectations help students succeed.

The position is a fixed-term employment at 100%.

We are looking for someone who:

• Has experience working with children or young people
• Has experience or interest in working with students with NPD (Neurodevelopmental Disorders) or other support needs
• Is calm, responsible, and solution-oriented
• Easily builds good relationships with students
• Is flexible and can adapt your support based on the situation and needs
• Enjoys collaborating and communicating with different professional groups
• Has good ability to express yourself in Swedish, both orally and in writing

Merits

• Experience working in schools or after-school centers
• Education or courses in areas such as NPD, pedagogy, conflict management, or interaction
• Experience with low-arousal approaches or work with extra adaptations and special support
