Jönköping Municipality is a large employer with hundreds of different professional roles. We are growing in tandem with the municipality's development, accommodating more residents, more housing, and a wider range of services. We are always looking for new skills – employees with diverse backgrounds and experiences, united by the common drive to create a better municipality to visit, live, work, and call home.
The Social Services Administration in Jönköping is now strengthening its work with need-adapted support for young people in vulnerable life situations. Through the Multisystemic Therapy (MST) method, we offer intensive treatment interventions in the young person's home environment, with the goal of enabling them to remain at home and create lasting change throughout the entire family system. We are now looking for an engaged therapist for our newly established MST team – do you want to make a real difference?
Your new job
In the role of an MST therapist, you will work with young people and their families to change norm-violating behaviors through multisystemic therapy (MST). You will use the MST method to strengthen relationships within the family, support the young person, and educate parents. Additionally, you will collaborate closely with schools, leisure activities, and other key actors surrounding the young person. As a therapist, you will work intensively with 3–4 families simultaneously.
You will be part of a team consisting of two other therapists and a coordinator. The work is home-based, meaning you will visit families in their homes and collaborate with entities such as the police, schools, and youth leaders. The team receives supervision every week, and you will receive support from experienced colleagues and supervisors to develop within the method. You will also undergo MST training if you do not already possess this competence. For more information about the method, visit www.mstsverige.se.
Your qualifications
We are looking for you with a valid degree as a social worker, a university-educated social pedagogue, or alternatively, another university education of at least 180 credits that the employer assesses as equivalent. It is an advantage if you have studied psychotherapy level 1 and/or have corresponding further education in systemic family therapy or cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT).
Experience in family work, family therapy, or cognitive behavioral therapy is a requirement. You must have good knowledge of both Swedish and English, as consultation and training are partly conducted in English. A valid driver's license (Category B) is required as travel is part of the job. Further education in systemic theoretical methods or qualified change work is also a plus.
We are looking for you who have a strong commitment, are flexible, and enjoy working both independently and in a group. Furthermore, you are secure, stable, and have self-awareness. In the recruitment process, we will place great emphasis on personal suitability.
We offer you
As an employee within Jönköping Municipality, you will naturally receive a secure employment and can take advantage of general benefits such as a wellness allowance. Read more about our benefits here.
Through MST's method for follow-up and quality assurance, you are offered good opportunities for personal development in your professional role.
Welcome to us
Outpatient care is part of the Social Services Administration's area Child and Youth Resources and works with needs-tested interventions for children and young people. Together with other units within the Child and Youth division, we develop sustainable solutions for children and young people aged 0–20 years who are close to placement. Outpatient care has, in addition to the MST team, two units with a total of approximately 40 employees. The workplace is located in central Jönköping.
Good to know
The recruitment is for a permanent position, full-time, with an start date of 2026-10-01 or as agreed. The position is a permanent appointment within Child and Youth Outpatient Care, where you begin your employment with a placement within the MST team, but this may change over time.
The work is primarily during daytime hours, but because the families' needs dictate the schedule, some working hours are in the evenings each week. Weekend work also occurs based on the families' needs. The position includes on-call duty outside office hours every fourth week.
We use rolling recruitment. Interviews and tests will be conducted in collaboration with MST Sweden. In your application, we require a CV, along with attached degree certificates and current employment certificates that verify the position you held and the extent of your work. Even if you already work for us, you need to provide degree certificates and employment certificates for services you have held outside the municipality. Applications that do not meet this requirement will not be prioritized.
Before employment becomes active, you must submit a relevant extract from the criminal record and suspicion register relevant to the position.
