RESPONSIBILITIES

We are looking for an engaged and responsive teacher assistant/resource pedagogue who wants to work closely with both the student and colleagues to create an inclusive, accessible, and stimulating learning environment for a student with visual impairment. You will become an important part of the school's work team, where, together with teachers and other staff, you will facilitate the student's participation, independence, and knowledge development.

The duties mainly consist of providing close pedagogical support throughout the school day in teaching, breaks, and transitions, with a focus on creating structure, security, and accessibility. You will work both preventively and situationally adapted, with the goal of enabling the student to participate as independently as possible.

Responsibilities:

• Maintain close and continuous collaboration with teaching pedagogues
• Adapt, create, and make educational materials accessible (e.g., tactile, auditory, and digital formats)
• Support the student in the classroom, during breaks, and in various social contexts
• Provide visual interpretation (sighted guide assistance) of visual elements in teaching and the school environment
• Support the student's orientation and independence in the school environment
• Contribute to structure, planning, and preparation for lessons and activities
• Participate in follow-up and documentation together with pedagogues and student health services
• Collaborate with guardians and external actors as needed

QUALIFICATIONS

Qualifications (Requirements)

• Completed SPSM course: Teaching students with severe visual impairment/blindness in grades F6 (or equivalent documented competence)
• Knowledge of Braille and experience working with alternative ways of reading and absorbing information
• Very good Swedish in speech and writing
• Experience with sighted guide assistance in pedagogical contexts

Meritorious

• Experience working with students with visual impairment or blindness
• Experience working in schools, especially in the earlier years of primary school
• Knowledge of assistive devices (e.g., screen readers, magnification programs, tactile materials)
• Knowledge of low-arousal approach and clarifying pedagogy
