Teacher for Special Needs Group (Years 7–9) – International English School Lund
International English School (IES) is currently seeking an engaged and relationship-building teacher for our special needs group for years 7–9.
About the Role
We are looking for you who want to make a real difference for students in need of special support and who thrive working closely with students, colleagues, and guardians. You are confident in your teaching role, have a strong pedagogical commitment, and see the value in creating structure, motivation, and accessible learning environments for students with diverse needs.
Here, you will become part of an experienced special pedagogical team with high competence, clear routines, and a strong focus on the student.
Scope and Responsibilities
The position involves teaching in a special needs group for students in years 7–9. You will plan and conduct teaching in the subjects you are qualified for and collaborate with subject teachers in other areas.
You will work closely with students who require additional adjustments and special support, including students with high absenteeism, neuropsychiatric difficulties, or other challenges affecting their school situation.
The work team includes special education teachers, special pedagogues, teaching assistants, and another teacher in the special needs group. Together, you will work to create a safe, structured, and accessible learning environment where students are given the best possible conditions for success.
Your main responsibilities include:
- Teaching students in the special needs group for years 7–9 together with a colleague.
- Planning, conducting, and following up on teaching based on students' individual needs.
- Adapting teaching materials and learning environments.
- Working with compensatory tools and digital aids.
- Collaborating with student health services, guardians, and teaching staff.
- Participating in work regarding students with high absenteeism and need for extensive support.
- Responsible for assessment and grading in the subjects you are qualified for.
- Acting as a mentor for students in the group and maintaining regular contact with their homes.
- Conducting development conferences with students and guardians 2–3 times per term.

Who We Are Looking For
- You are a certified teacher.
- You have a strong interest in special pedagogy and inclusive learning environments.
- You are confident in building relationships with students in need of support.
- You have experience in adapting teaching and teaching materials.
- You are structured but also flexible.
- You enjoy collaboration but can also work independently.
- You have excellent knowledge of Swedish and good knowledge of English.
- Experience working with NPD (Neuropsychological Disorders), problematic school attendance, or special needs groups is preferred.
- You are solution-focused and have the ability to think creatively.
Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.

IES Lund is a years 4–9 school with approximately 710 students and 75 employees. We operate based on the belief that safety, study peace, and good relationships create the best conditions for learning and development.
Teaching is conducted in both Swedish and English according to the Swedish curriculum. Our Swedish and international teachers contribute with broad competence and experience to create an stimulating and developmental learning environment for our students.

The position is a fixed-term employment for the school year 2026/27 at 100%, starting August 5, 2026, or as agreed.
