In Sweden, Vattenfall Värme delivers district heating, district cooling, and steam to industries, property owners, and residential customers in fifteen municipalities. We provide sustainable heating to approximately 200,000 Swedish households, as well as heat, cooling, and steam to industrial customers. We work actively according to a clear plan to reduce emissions in our cities, our own heat production, and from our suppliers, with the goal of reaching net-zero emissions by 2040. About the Role

Do you want to work in a socially important operation where sustainability and technology meet?

As an Environmental Specialist, you play a central role in ensuring that Uppsala's district heating operations are conducted in accordance with current environmental legislation. You are responsible for issues related to the external environment in daily operations and ensure that the correct documentation is available to comply with operational permits, regulations, and other legal requirements. The role involves close collaboration with the entire operation – from operations and technology to projects and management – where you act as the local environmental expert. You contribute to integrating sustainability issues into daily work and the development of the business. You are the operation's primary contact person for supervisory authorities and build professional and trusting relationships with external parties.

As an Environmental Specialist, you lead the local environmental group and collaborate closely with both colleagues in Uppsala and central environmental experts. Together, you create an inclusive environment where knowledge is shared and different perspectives are valued. Your main responsibilities:

In the role of Environmental Specialist, you will among other things:

• Support the organization with environmental legislation
• Compile the annual environmental reporting
• Handle deviations within the external environment
• Plan and conduct supervisory visits and be able to answer detailed questions about the facilities
• Coordinate investigations related to environmental incidents
• Participate in internal and external environmental audits

Requirements

We are looking for you who have:

• Relevant higher education or university degree in environment, technology, natural sciences, or equivalent work experience
• Several years of experience working with environmental supervision, environmental reporting, and/or authority contacts
• Good knowledge of Swedish environmental legislation and authority requirements related to industrial operations
• Ability to independently plan, drive, and follow up on environmental-related issues
• Good ability to express yourself both orally and in writing in Swedish and English

It is meritorious if you have:

• Experience from energy, process, or combined heat and power operations
• Participated in internal or external audits within the environmental field
• Worked closely with operations organizations or in technical operations

As a person, you are structured, communicative, and confident in dialogue with both internal stakeholders and external authorities. You thrive in a role where you get to combine operational work with analysis and advisory services.
