The Department of Medical Sciences is a large clinical department with approximately 250 employees and over 900 individuals affiliated via the University Hospital. The department has a broad research profile with strong research groups in a number of areas. Research takes place in close connection with clinical activities at the University Hospital and includes both basic studies on disease causes and the development and evaluation of improved diagnostics and new treatment methods. The Rheumatology Research Group conducts outstanding research on inflammatory rheumatic diseases, including systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), Sjögren's syndrome, and ANCA-associated vasculitis. Our research integrates genomics, epigenomics, and advanced cellular immunology to map disease mechanisms and identify new therapeutic targets.

The research group is part of strong national and international collaborations with leading academic centers, clinical cohorts, and industry partners. We offer a dynamic, interdisciplinary, and collaborative research environment with access to unique patient material, large-scale datasets, and advanced analytical infrastructure. The position as Project Assistant provides an opportunity to contribute to high-impact research at the interface of immunology, genomics, and precision medicine.

Job Responsibilities

You will work with large-scale datasets, focusing on the analysis and integration of genetic information and clinical data. Responsibilities include data processing and the development of machine learning models in collaboration with senior researchers.

You will also contribute to the interpretation and presentation of results. The results from your work will be included in ongoing research projects and compiled into scientific manuscripts with the aim of publication in peer-reviewed journals.

The position offers a valuable opportunity to gain practical experience in participating in the entire research process, from data analysis to publication.

Qualifications

To be eligible for the position, you must have:

  • Education in bioinformatics or a related field.
  • Documented experience in analyzing genetic data and developing models using machine learning methods.
  • Knowledge of the genetic background of autoimmune diseases and their connection to kidney inflammation.
  • Good teamwork skills and the ability to work effectively in interdisciplinary teams.
  • Good proficiency in English, both spoken and written.

Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability, such as initiative, analytical ability, and teamwork skills.

About the Position

The position is fixed-term (2 months). Full-time.

Start date: July 1, 2026, or as agreed.
