Our Operations

Hemotherapy is part of Akademiska Laboratory and the section of Clinical Immunology and Transfusion Medicine. Akademiska Laboratory is responsible for medical diagnostics, counseling, research, development, treatment, and education. Our customers are primarily located in Uppsala County and our Central Swedish region. In total, Akademiska Laboratory has approximately 500 employees operating at Akademiska Hospital, the Hospital in Enköping, and in our blood donation trailer.

The Department of Hemotherapy is responsible for ensuring the blood supply in the Uppsala region through blood donations at Akademiska Hospital and via our blood bus and blood donation trailer at several collection sites/locations in the area around Uppsala and neighboring regions. Hemotherapy also handles the production of blood components and patient treatments using apheresis technology. We serve as the reference blood center for the Collaborative Blood System (SBS) and ensure that communication between our data systems functions as expected nationally.

At Hemotherapy, we are a cheerful team responsible for delivering quality-assured blood products to the hospital and the region. We take good care of both our blood donors and our components. We have excellent collaboration with each other and enjoy working together.

We are now looking for a Biomedical Analyst for the role of Object Specialist for ProSang.

Your Role

In your role as Object Specialist for our data system ProSang, you are primarily responsible for the part of the system that handles blood donation and blood components.

You are the user responsible for the operations regarding component management in ProSang. You collaborate with colleagues on the department who are responsible for donor management.

Your role includes participating in national collaboration groups under SWEBA. Such as the working group for coordination of ISBT 128 component codes in Sweden, the Reference Group for Collaborative Blood Systems (SBS), and the working group for coordination of the Electronic Health Declaration (EHD).

The following tasks will also be included:

  • Assist users in the region with problems related to ProSang
  • Be responsible for ProSang's tissue establishment for bone tissue and Neurosurgery-Skull
  • Participate in the development of the system, maintain and validate during upgrades and changes to the system, including connections to other systems.
  • Maintain our role as a reference blood center within SBS
  • Administer user permissions and inform/instruct about the functions and use of the programs
  • Ensure that documents are updated within the area of responsibility
  • Maintain, configure, test, and troubleshoot in ProSang
  • Act as the contact person towards the supplier of ProSang
  • Generate statistics for the operation's needs and for reporting to authorities.
  • Participate in the work regarding procurement, implementation, and verification of new equipment where integrations with the system exist, and potentially assist with support and problem-solving.
  • Participate in disaster preparedness work related to our LIMS
  • Participate in improvement and development work/projects

Your Qualifications

  • You are educated as a biomedical analyst or equivalent.
  • You have very good computer skills
  • You find it easy to collaborate with others
  • You have very good knowledge of Swedish and English.
  • Basic understanding of infrastructure, network, server, operations
  • You have good knowledge of various administrative systems and the Office package.

What We Offer

We offer a permanent position at 100%. Start date according to agreement. Working hours are 07:30-16:15. Evening shifts may occur on rare occasions.
