Neuro Department – Locum Sub-Specialist Physician

Our Operations

The Neuro Department provides specialized and highly specialized care for patients with diseases and injuries of the nervous system. We work with investigation and diagnostics, as well as medical and surgical treatment of both acute and chronic neurological and neurosurgical conditions. We offer care to patients from seven regions in Central Sweden and provide national highly specialized care in certain areas to patients from all over Sweden. This complex mission creates excellent conditions for our employees and operations to develop.

Within the department, more than 450 employees work, distributed across three inpatient wards, a day-care ward, a neuro-intermediate care ward, a neuro-intensive care ward, an operating department, and three outpatient clinics. Alongside clinical activities, there is a high level of research, education, and development activity in close collaboration with Uppsala University. Our goal is to be nationally and internationally leading in care, research, and teaching within the neuro field.

Your Qualifications

We are currently seeking 2 individuals to serve as locum sub-specialist physicians starting in August for a period of 6 months. The position is primarily located at the Stroke Ward 85 B1 and the Neurology Ward 85 D. Outpatient reception duties may occasionally occur. The minimum requirement is a completed Medical Program in Sweden, including a passed course in neurology, or equivalent international education. Good knowledge of Swedish is required.

Personal suitability is highly valued. Daily work requires teamwork skills and flexibility. With clarity and communication skills combined with sensitivity, you work with both patients and colleagues across all professional categories. You are engaged and present in the moment. You are open and interested in participating in and learning about the best developments in the field. Previous experience in inpatient care is advantageous.

We Offer

We offer a full-time locum position with start date as agreed. Depending on previous experience, on-call duties may be included, but normally you will work during office hours. Salary according to agreement.

The locum positions start in August 2026 and last for approximately 6 months. Recruitment is ongoing during the application period.
