Job Description
The research project will focus on the development of fluorine-free electronically conductive polymers for silicon-based electrodes for lithium-ion batteries. The project will encompass electrode preparation, cell assembly, electrochemical testing, interface characterization (primarily SEM and XPS, but may also include FTIR, XRD), and the development of experimental/analytical methods. The postdoc is expected to conduct high-quality research with the aim of disseminating results through high-impact peer-reviewed journals or at national and international conferences. Strong collaboration with Westra Materials as project partners and colleagues within the Ångström Advanced Battery Centre is expected.
The main duties of a postdoc are to conduct research. This may also include teaching, up to 20% of working time.
Qualifications:
A PhD degree or a foreign degree assessed as equivalent to a PhD in Chemistry, Physics, Materials Science, or a similar field. The degree must be completed no later than the time the employment decision is made. Preference is given to candidates who have obtained their degree within the last three years. The reference date for the three-year calculation is the last day of application. In exceptional circumstances, a degree obtained earlier may be considered. Exceptional circumstances include leave due to illness, parental leave, trust positions in trade unions, etc.
Knowledge of electronically conductive polymers and polymer technology/polymer physics, as well as experience in battery cell assembly, glovebox operation, electrochemical testing (galvanostatic cycling), and electrode characterization is essential. The candidate must have good proficiency in written and spoken English.
Assessment of applications is primarily based on the applicant's ability to conduct independent research based on scientific skill. Greater weight is placed on the quality of each individual scientific work than on the quantity of publications.
Consideration is also given to good teamwork skills, drive, and independence, as well as how the applicant's experience and competence complement and strengthen ongoing research within the department and how they can contribute to its future development.
Desirable/Additional Qualifications
Experience with electrode binders, electrode processing, and other characterization techniques (e.g., rheology, XPS, FTIR, SEM) is desirable.
