Job Description

You now have the opportunity to join Hermodsdalsskolan's adapted primary school as a special needs teacher for a subject-area class in grades 1–6 with five students. We are looking for you who want to contribute to a learning organization where the student is always in focus.

Together, we work to ensure that every student is given the opportunity to succeed based on their own prerequisites. Our students are met with high expectations and teaching adapted to their needs.

As a special needs teacher with us, you work in close cooperation with the student assistants in the class and are part of a work team together with other teachers within the adapted primary school. The position includes responsibility for planning, teaching, and assessment. You evaluate the pedagogical operations based on the curriculum and other regulatory documents, and develop strategies to strengthen each student's knowledge-based and personal development. The goal is both to promote the students' continued learning and to prepare them for further education.

The assignment includes planning and conducting teaching, as well as mapping and observing individual students and groups. You work preventively to remove obstacles in different learning environments and contribute to developing work regarding support measures and adaptations for students in need of special support.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who are a certified primary school teacher with a special needs teacher degree specializing in intellectual disability, or alternatively have special pedagogical education and experience working in subject areas in adapted primary school.

Knowledge of picture support, AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication), and digital aids is required. You have good knowledge of the school's regulatory documents and the ability to translate them into daily work. Furthermore, you have well-developed didactic and pedagogical competence and can lead and organize the work to create study peace and a safe learning environment throughout the school day.

You develop your work based on evidence-based research and see the value of a professional and reflective approach. Great importance is attached to personal suitability, experience, and commitment to the target group.

About the Workplace

Hermodsdalsskolan is a F-9 school with both primary school and adapted primary school. There are 510 students at the primary school and 48 students at the adapted primary school. Hermodsdalsskolan started its adapted primary school in August 2020, expanded the operations in 2025, and is now looking for a special needs teacher specializing in intellectual disability who wants to become part of the operations together with engaged colleagues and school leadership. Our adapted primary school has 48 students distributed in three subject classes and four subject-area classes. We work with a communicative environment where the students' AAC is in focus.
