About the role and your responsibilities

Special needs teachers work to map, analyze, plan, and implement teaching in accordance with the current curriculum. The special needs teacher works pedagogically based on the organization's goals and guidelines, as well as municipal, national, and international regulatory documents. The special needs teacher is well-versed in the current curriculum. The assignment includes mapping and analyzing results in collaboration with school leadership and the rest of the student health team to implement appropriate support measures. The special needs teacher works on behalf of the principal and will spend the majority of their practical service at the intermediate school level (grades 4-6). Mapping and analysis work is done in collaboration with the six colleagues in the F-9 special needs team.

Special needs teachers are responsible for:

• Actively working on designing and developing supplementary instruction in accordance with the current curriculum, as well as evaluating the different modules students are to work with.
• Having overall responsibility for ensuring that the mapping and screening plan is followed according to the annual calendar, and acting as the link between educators and school leadership in this work, together with special education and special needs teacher colleagues.
• Analyzing results in collaboration with school leadership, special educators, and teaching teachers.
• Providing suggestions for support measures.
• Mentoring educators with the aim of increasing the accessibility of teaching for students.
• Creating a safe environment in the school that aims to strengthen students in their knowledge development as well as their social development.
• Designing teaching based on students' prerequisites and needs.
• Ensuring that all students have real influence on working methods and the content of education, and facilitating a democratic working method where students actively participate.

We are looking for you

We are looking for you who have a special needs teacher degree or who are soon to complete your studies to become a special needs teacher. We would prefer that you have the qualification to teach mathematics primarily, possibly in combination with Swedish. Other subjects may also be considered.

To succeed in the assignment, you need to have the ability to create good and sustainable relationships with both students and guardians as well as colleagues. You have a great commitment and are keen to take your own initiatives in your daily work that have an impact on the organization as a whole. Furthermore, you have the ability to drive issues within your area of responsibility on your own and can easily structure, plan, and keep timeframes yourself.

Good knowledge of digital tools is required for the position.

About the workplace

Svaleboskolan is a primary school (grades F-9) in Veberöd, located in the eastern part of Lund Municipality. Approximately 800 students and just over 130 employees are distributed across lower, intermediate, and upper school levels. The school is led by a principal and three deputy principals. Svaleboskolan is located in a beautiful natural area with good access to artificial turf fields and nice outdoor areas. The school has an established systematic values-based work through our program "Veberödsvägen". During 2025, we have collaborated with the foundation "Tryggare skola" (Safer School), which has resulted in a concrete action plan regarding safety and well-being, which we began working from during the autumn term of 2025. We will continue this work with the aim of promoting a school with a focus on knowledge and a good work environment for both staff and students. In the spring of 2026, we have initiated development work in mathematics through the tool FUNA:

Lund Municipality: First in Sweden to test tools in mathematics.
