Welcome to Sundsvall Municipality!
Sundsvall Municipality is one of the largest employers in Northern Sweden, with around 8,000 employees and over 300 professions. Together, we fulfill one of society's most important missions – creating utility and value for residents, businesses, and future generations. Regardless of the department, we work towards the same goal: to be a great place to live, work, and thrive.
We are currently in an exciting phase of development. We are a driving force in digital development and artificial intelligence, and together we create smart solutions for the people of Sundsvall today and in the future.
Sundsvall plays a central role in the green transition in northern Sweden. We are convinced that the right places for this transition are here. As a municipality, we are preparing to grow by, among other things, preparing land, creating new educational opportunities, marketing the municipality, and welcoming new residents from all over the world.
Your new workplace
The Service Center is organizationally placed under the Municipal Executive Board Office and supports internal operational support for Sundsvall Municipality's administrations, companies, and foundations.
Sundsvall is in an exciting phase. Several projects are underway to develop the city and the organization with new operations and communications. Sundsvall is growing, and the need for competence is great. Here are the opportunities for you who want to create, change, and experience. You want to move forward. We do too.
We are now looking for an engaged economist to join our team, ready to develop in a broad and operational economic function and take the next step in their career. As an Economist, you will have a role where you work both independently and in groups to ensure efficient and accurate handling of economic processes. The economic processes are constantly developing, and digital tools are becoming an increasingly larger part of our work. As an economist here, you will have varied tasks that require a holistic view of economics and skills in accounting.
How you contribute as an Economist
As an economist, you work together with the municipality, the group companies, and the foundations. You function as a qualified support to the operations and have a broad operational role closely linked to daily economic management.
In the role, you will work with, among other things:
- Budgeting and economic follow-up, asset accounting, annual closing work, and ongoing accounting.
- Economic administration and qualified case handling related to the municipality's foundations.
- Processing grant applications and preparing service descriptions and decision materials.
- Preparation of annual accounts and financial statements according to current regulations.
The role involves close collaboration with operations and other stakeholders, where you contribute to good economic control and increased understanding of economic connections.
Your competence and experience
- We are looking for you who have a university or college education in economics.
- Good knowledge of Excel.
- Good ability to express yourself in Swedish, both orally and in writing.
Merits we value:
- Relevant experience of economic work through, for example, internships, part-time jobs, or previous employment.
- Previous experience working in economic systems, preferably Raindance.
- Experience from the public sector or grant-funded operations.
The role suits you who are at the beginning of your career with some experience in economic work, and who now want to continue developing in a broad and operational economic function. We place great importance on your personal suitability, looking for someone who is self-motivated and takes responsibility for driving their work forward and ensuring good delivery. You work in a structured and careful manner, with a good ability to handle details without losing the big picture. Furthermore, you are service-oriented and thrive in a supporting role where you collaborate well with others from colleagues to managers. You have good communication skills and can explain economic connections in a clear and pedagogical way. Finally, you have a good holistic view and understand your role in a larger context, where you actively contribute to the organization's goals.
