Bergsnässkolan is the small school located in central Avesta. Currently, there are approximately 220 students. The school's size is one of our many strengths! Here, all teachers and students work in close interaction with each other, and we value our high teaching quality combined with a high sense of security and well-being. We work with a two-teacher system, which gives us excellent conditions to provide our students with ample teacher support.

Job Responsibilities

Work as a special needs teacher (speciallärare) at the intermediate level (grades 4-6) with a main focus on Swedish language instruction. You will work together with students who need extra help with their linguistic development. You will also support teachers in their work to create favorable teaching conditions for all students. This can be done, for example, through supervision and support with adaptations.

You will collaborate closely with the school's other special needs teachers/special educators. You will work together on evaluations and analyses of student results, and you will work in teams regarding students who need support in their knowledge development.

You will be part of the school's student health team. In collaboration with the student health team, the special needs teacher's tasks are defined and distributed. Tasks may include, for example, special instruction individually or in small groups, observations, supervisory assignments, or work with adaptations. All tasks are carried out in good cooperation with current teachers and in teams with special needs teacher colleagues.

Furthermore, the special needs teacher team works together with assessments and action plans. You will also support teachers in their assessment work, if necessary.

Qualifications

You have the qualification to teach Swedish at the intermediate level, as well as a special needs teacher education or experience in special education.

It is an advantage if you have good knowledge of and experience in teaching Swedish as a second language.

You must have the ability to adapt your teaching and work based on results, evaluations, and the individual student's needs. To achieve this, you need to have a good understanding of how different students absorb knowledge and the ability to adapt your teaching methods at both group and individual levels.

You understand the importance of working towards the school's overall goals and following established routines, guidelines, and decisions, and you work loyally for the benefit of the organization.

We also look for you to have knowledge and experience working with Office programs, as these are used frequently in the job.

Experience in supervision is important. You will serve as a support for other teachers. You also have a good ability to build good relationships with your colleagues, students, and guardians.
