Workplace Description
The position is located at the Unit for Translational Neurogenetics, Department of Experimental Medical Science, Faculty of Medicine.
Job Responsibilities and Areas of Responsibility
As a PhD student at the Unit for Translational Neurogenetics, you will undertake a four-year doctoral education. This involves planning, conducting, and evaluating research projects in collaboration with other group members and partners. The doctoral education also includes participation in scientific meetings, grant applications, and interaction with examiners. In our research group, we value scientific integrity, respect, trust, and openness, and we work towards an environment where every individual can meet challenges and develop their strengths.
Qualifications
Requirements for admission are:
- A completed advanced level degree, completed course requirements of at least 240 higher education credits, of which at least 60 higher education credits at an advanced level, or acquired in some other way within or outside the country substantially equivalent knowledge.
- Good ability to benefit from the doctoral education.
The applicant must have at the start of employment:
- A Master's degree in a relevant subject area.
- Experience from experimental research within neurodegenerative diseases.
- Experience with human genetic analyses.
- Excellent communication skills in English.
- Personal qualities such as engagement, independence, and teamwork skills.
Qualifications that are meritorious for the position are:
- Experience from cohort studies on Parkinson's disease.
- Good programming skills in Python and R.
- Documented execution of bioinformatic analyses within the genetic field.
- Experience presenting own research findings in scientific contexts in formats such as posters, oral presentations, and written reports.
Great importance will be attached to how the applicant, through their experience and competence, is assessed to have the ability required to complete the doctoral education.

About the Position
The position is a fixed-term appointment for a total of four years, 100%, with a start date of September 1, 2026, or as agreed. The main rule is that positions at Lund University are conducted in Sweden; therefore, you are expected to be able to perform your work on-site in Lund.
Regulations concerning employment as a PhD student are found in the Higher Education Ordinance (1993:100), Chapter 5, Sections 1–7. Regulations concerning admission to doctoral studies are found in Chapter 6, Section 3 of the Higher Education Ordinance (1993:100). More information is available on the university's website.
