Registered Nurse for Oncology Department – Permanent Day/Evening Position
REGION GOTLANDGotlands län, Gotland
Previous experience is desired
The Oncology Department has ten beds for adult patients diagnosed with cancer across all specialties.
Here, dedicated staff work in team care, taking a holistic perspective around the patient and their relatives. The team includes doctors, nurses, nursing assistants, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, dietitians, and social workers. Staffing is optimized to work from a patient-centered care perspective.
We are now looking for a nurse for a permanent day/evening position.
Your responsibilities
Are you a registered nurse and want to develop in your profession? You have the chance to join our team. To make it as optimal as possible for the patients and their relatives, we rely on the combined skills of the entire team.
As a nurse, you are one of the key figures in care to achieve symptom relief for patients in curative or palliative stages. You will also be an important person in contact with relatives and other close ones around the patients. As a nurse, you have nursing responsibility for the care around the patient.
Many of our patients have pumps for symptom relief purposes, and as a nurse, you will be responsible for checking and refilling these. Sometimes cytotoxic treatment becomes relevant on the ward, and if you do not have this competence, we offer training before you need to administer, give, and handle cytotoxics. Some telephone advice is also included in your assignment; during on-call hours, patients receiving treatment at the unit's day care and patients registered with the Palliative Team have the opportunity to call the ward.
Work at our unit is, in other words, varied and developing. Some situations require quick action, and sometimes it is important to spend extra time with one of the patients or a relative.
We use TakeCare for medical records. A fixed schedule is offered, and we work every other weekend.
Who are you?
You are a registered nurse. If you have relevant specialist education or experience in oncological or palliative care, it is meritorious.
We are looking for you who are flexible and have an easy time adapting to changed circumstances. Sometimes it can be calmer on the ward for a short while, then later pick up the pace. The conversation, time for "the little extra," and having fun at work are keywords for you who apply to us. Therefore, you are responsive and observant, with a strong focus on the psychosocial environment. You are a secure person who can make decisions independently, dare to enter and stay despite difficult conversations with patients and relatives, are non-hierarchical, and have good cooperation skills.
We place great emphasis on personal suitability among our applicants.
Before a decision on employment, a background check is made through extracts from the criminal record register.
Selection for interviews may take place continuously during the application period, so please send in your application!
