Workplace Description

The work will take place within the activities of the Magnetic Resonance Physics group. The group is interdisciplinary and includes members active in different faculties, various companies, and within healthcare. The research group is located on Klinikgatan in Lund, situated right next to Lund University Hospital.

Job Responsibilities

Lund University plays a prominent international role in the development and application of new techniques for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Within the framework of ongoing projects, we are looking for a Project Assistant who can develop techniques for quantifying properties in the brain using diffusion-MRI.

We are looking for a person to work with the following tasks:

  • Research on the quantification of capillary flow using MRI.
  • The work involves programming, primarily in MATLAB.
  • Work at the MRI scanners available to the group.
  • Summarize results in a scientific format for publication in an international journal.
  • Participate in the group's activities and present results at scientific conferences.

Other tasks may also be included.

Qualifications

Requirements for the position are:

  • A Master of Science degree or equivalent. No requirement to have completed the degree, but a requirement to have taken courses equivalent to at least 4 years of study.
  • Experience in independent research work, such as a thesis or project with a clear hypothesis and quantitative analysis.
  • Knowledge in programming, preferably MATLAB.
  • Experience in MRI research.
  • Experience in research on diffusion encoding of capillary blood flow.
  • Being curious, persistent, and cooperative.

Qualifications that would be considered an advantage:

  • A Master of Science in a field relevant to the research area.
  • The ability to structure complex problems and work methodically with data-driven solutions.
  • An interest in and understanding of scientific methodology in medical image analysis.

Other Information

The position is a fixed-term appointment for 6 months with a workload of 100%. Desired start date July 1, 2026, or as agreed.

The Department of Clinical Sciences in Lund (IKVL) is one of six departments at the Faculty of Medicine, Lund University.
