Class Assistants Needed for Adapted Primary School in Säter Municipality

Adapted Primary School in Säter Municipality is seeking two fixed-term class assistants for the Kristineskolan unit. The Kristineskolan unit is a facility primarily for students in grades 1–6, where we work with both specific subjects and subject areas. The school's operations are located in premises behind Klockarskolan.

The positions will cover the entire school year 2026/2027, i.e., from August 2026 to June 2027, when the regular class assistants have other assignments.

Job Responsibilities

As a class assistant in adapted primary school, you work in a team with special needs teachers, student assistants/class assistants, the student health team, and the principal to create successful and educational days for our students together. As an employee in adapted primary school, you play an important role in shaping a safe environment for our students while creating conditions for them to develop based on their abilities. You support students in their learning with tasks designed by the pedagogical lead special needs teacher.

You are responsible for the students' personal care according to each student's needs. The work may involve some lifting and individual work with a student. You are present as support by the students' side throughout the entire school day, during lessons, meal times, recesses, and any after-school care. Your duties also include some documentation.

A significant part of your role involves staffing and running the adapted primary school's after-school care center together with other student assistants/class assistants. The after-school care center is open both before and after school hours, where all student assistants/class assistants work according to a schedule under the direction of the principal. During school holidays when the school is closed, all time is scheduled at the after-school care center.

Qualifications

We are looking for you with previous experience working as a student assistant/class assistant or similar. You should have a basic education in the Child and Youth Program, Care Program, Student Assistant Program, or other equivalent education. Experience working in adapted primary school, after-school care, or care work such as personal hygiene, tube feeding, and clarifying pedagogy (visual supports, sign communication, and PECS) is meritorious. A driver's license and own car are desirable.
