The Swedish Customs Service's operational activities are divided into four departments: control, collection, intelligence, and customs crime.
The Intelligence Department conducts intelligence operations with deliveries to all parts of the Swedish Customs Service. The department handles intelligence and risk analysis and works on intelligence activities within all parts of the Swedish Customs Service's mandate, regarding both illegal and dangerous goods and revenue collection. The work aims to prevent, detect, and prevent criminal activity.
The department is divided into four units with geographical responsibility: South, West, East, and North, and also consists of the Swedish Customs Service's selection center as well as the unit for strategic analysis and the national desk.
We are now looking for a Handler for the Intelligence Unit in the East, located in Stockholm.
About the position
Collection activities are an area of operation within intelligence that involves gathering information about organized crime through source driving. The activity is central to the Swedish Customs Service's ability to work long-term towards prioritized directions.
Main responsibilities
The position involves a very high degree of personal responsibility for creating results and developing the activity together with your colleagues. The position involves trust-based working hours, meaning you work at irregular times as well as during the day and weekends. The work is both planned and event-driven, which places high demands on flexibility. The work may involve a certain mental and social strain.
The activity is led by Group Manager/Inspector.
The duties involve:
- Establishing contacts internally and externally in order to identify, recruit, and maintain contacts with persons who have knowledge of customs-related serious organized crime.
- Having a very high awareness of security and risk, as well as documenting the activity according to current instructions.
- Having very good ability for close cooperation and collaboration in a small work group.
- Constantly seeking opportunities for the development of the activity and being responsive to the needs of the activity.
Are you the one we are looking for?
We are looking for you who have:
- Completed and approved basic training within the Swedish Customs Service's law enforcement activities or equivalent training in another authority that the employer considers equivalent.
- Completed and approved conflict management training including communication, self-defense, OC spray, baton, and service weapon.
- Experience from working within the Swedish Customs Service's law enforcement activities or another authority with a mandate which the employer considers equivalent.
- Good knowledge of both Swedish and English, and the ability to express yourself clearly in speech and writing.
- Driver's license category B.
- Swedish citizenship.
It is meritorious if you have:
- Intelligence training.
- Handler training.
- Practical experience of the Swedish Customs Service's control, customs crime, or intelligence work.
- Experience of targeted operational work against organized crime within law enforcement activities.
- Experience of working with intelligence activities within law enforcement activities.
- Experience of national and international operational cooperation.
- Worked as a handler.
- Language skills in addition to Swedish and English.
- Good computer skills.

The employment is a permanent position and begins with a 6-month probationary period. The permanent employment is subject to having completed and passed weapon training during the probationary period.
Conducting tests may become relevant during the recruitment process.
Start date: By agreement.
The position involves both domestic and international travel.
To work as a handler permanently, it is required to undergo handler training or have completed handler training with a passing grade.
