High School Teacher in Animal Care at Realgymnasiet in Malmö

We are now looking for a teacher specializing in companion animals for Realgymnasiet in Malmö, at 90% capacity! We are a school with approximately 130 students for the upcoming academic year. Here, we work in close collaboration as a team with high flexibility.

The position includes, during the next academic year, teaching in the subject of natural resource management (naturbruk), companion animal husbandry, companion animals (for grade 25), and animal specialization in ethology, training, and enrichment (grade 11).

To teach in these areas, you need to have a broad understanding of animals, as the field is wide-ranging, covering everything from reptiles to ruminants. You must possess knowledge of animal ethology and biology, including anatomy, nutritional physiology, and life processes. Injuries and diseases are also part of this teaching field, as well as obviously animal care, handling, and enrichment. You must also be able to teach about the professions, environments, industries, products, services, natural resources of natural resource management, as well as its history and significance for sustainability.

The position also includes practical work with students, responsibility for APL (Workplace-based learning), and industry contacts. Furthermore, you need to feel confident in your role as a teacher, be good at meeting students and creating trusting relationships, and be unpretentious. You need documented experience of teaching, knowledge of companion animals, and experience working within the companion animal industry. It is important that you are accustomed to working with companion animals. A teaching license is meritorious.
