On behalf of our client, we are now looking for a Depositary Compliance Officer who wants to become a key player in their supervisory function over the bank's fund company customers.

About the role

As a Depositary Compliance Officer, you will become part of the bank's team within Depositary & Network Management. Since all funds are legally required to have a depositary, this team fulfills a critical and statutory supervisory function. Your task is to ensure that the fund companies of our clients comply with all applicable laws and regulations.

The team is characterized by an open, supportive, and transparent culture with a wonderful mix of competencies. As the team is currently facing changes and the need for reinforcement is great, we are looking for you who can quickly get up to speed and contribute from day one.

This is a consultancy assignment. You will be employed by Academic Work and work as a consultant for our client. The assignment is full-time, and there are good opportunities for extension or permanent hire, provided all parties are satisfied with the collaboration.

Responsibilities

As a Depositary Compliance Officer, you have overall responsibility for the supervision of your assigned fund company customers. The role requires you to balance a professional and good customer relationship with a strict auditing and controlling function.

• Conduct statutory controls of fund companies and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Review financial instruments, fund administration, and control and verify NAV prices.
• Prepare, structure, and lead professional meetings with the fund companies.
• Be the main contact point for fund companies regarding fund changes and regulatory matters.
• Collaborate closely with internal colleagues as well as international contacts within the group.

We are looking for you who

To quickly get into the role, we see that you have a solid background in the fund industry and understand the complexity of control functions. We welcome applicants with various types of fund backgrounds, but to succeed in the role, the following is required:

• A Bachelor's or Master's degree (or equivalent) in law, finance, or economics.
• Previous experience with financial instruments, fund administration, and/or calculating NAV.
• Good knowledge of the laws and regulations governing Swedish fund companies, with a special focus on UCITS and AIFMD.
• Very good communication skills in both Swedish and English, both oral and written.

It is an advantage if you have:

• Previous experience from a depositary handling UCITS and/or AIF managers (e.g., from similar roles at other depositaries).

As a person, you are:

• Professional and relationship-building: You are social and pleasant, but have a good touch for balancing a good customer relationship against the role as an objective auditor.
• Analytical and structured: You are meticulous in your controls and have the ability to work independently and drive your own processes forward.
