About the role and your responsibilities

Working as a Senior Teacher (Förstelärare) within the primary and adapted primary school division of the Child and School Administration primarily means strengthening the pedagogical development work to achieve higher goal fulfillment at your own workplace and, secondarily, within the operations of Lund Municipality. The Senior Teacher has a special responsibility for systematic quality work and acts with the aim of the school continuing to develop into a learning organization, working on behalf of the principal as follows:

• The role of Senior Teacher includes teaching and other tasks belonging to the teaching profession for at least 50% of working hours.
• As a Senior Teacher, you have special responsibility for general and subject-specific didactic development supported by research, as well as for the school/operation's focus areas linked to systematic quality work.
• As a Senior Teacher, you play a key role in collegial learning.

The content and conditions of the position are specified in dialogue between school leaders and the Senior Teacher at each respective school/operation based on the guidelines above. This is done prior to each school year.

You will be part of a team with six Senior Teachers from both Häckebergaskolan and Genarps skola. The team also includes special needs educators and school leadership. The team represents the entire F-9 organization. Your teaching and Senior Teacher duties will be directed towards grades 4-6 in mathematics and Natural Sciences subjects. More subjects may become relevant depending on your qualifications.

The assignment is a holiday relief position (ferietjänst) and is permanent.

We are looking for you

To be considered for a Senior Teacher position, you must meet the following requirements:

• Be a certified teacher (the certification must be issued by the Swedish National Agency for Education no later than the day you assume the position of Senior Teacher) and be qualified to teach mathematics and Natural Sciences subjects for grades 4-6.
• Through documentation, be able to report at least four years of well-regarded work with teaching within the framework of one or several employments within the school system (the requirements are considered met even if the teaching was done as an uncertified teacher, at an after-school center, or part-time).
• Have shown particularly good ability to improve students' academic results and have a strong interest in developing teaching.
• Have good knowledge of developing teaching and be assessed by the employer as particularly qualified for teaching and tasks related to teaching.

It is particularly meritorious if you have previously worked as a Senior Teacher, and we would appreciate it if you have a broad subject qualification. Good knowledge of digital tools is a requirement.

To succeed in your role as a Senior Teacher, you need to be secure, stable, and self-aware. You see relationships in the right perspective, distinguish the personal from the professional, and relate to situations in an adapted manner. Furthermore, you need to have a good ability to relate to others in a listening and flexible way; you listen, communicate, and resolve conflicts constructively. Creating and maintaining good relationships at the workplace is something you value highly.

We are looking for someone who has the ability to think strategically and has a broad perspective on issues. You see the long-term significance and consequences of matters and adapt your actions accordingly. We also believe that you, as an applicant, understand the professional aspects of your work particularly well. You have a curious approach and keep yourself updated on the latest school research, engaging in developing the quality of teaching for increased goal fulfillment.

About the workplace

At Genarps skola, we have approximately 300 students in grades 4-9. We care about creating good relationships with each other and with our students. In our improvement work, we focus on accessible learning environments and relational teaching. We work in bright and fresh premises, and each classroom has a smartboard/projector.
